The purpose of this role is to participate in the implementation of Data Governance solutions that will enable SCUK to ensure that its services, processes, systems, tools and data have appropriate solutions to meet data control requirements.

The role is a 7-month secondment/Fixed Term Contract position, and will play a key role in maturing SCUK data governance processes. This will include working with Data Owners and Stewards across the business to understand their key data elements, and ensuring business areas are correctly logging, maintaining and deleting departmental records. There will also be the opportunity to learn and get involved with other Data Governance initiatives within the organisation.

The role will involve engagement with multiple stakeholders across SCUK, as well as from both SanUK and SCF in Madrid, giving great exposure to the wider business.

Please note this role is a hybrid role with at least 3 days a week in the Redhill office. Remote workers will not be considered.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with Data Owners and Data Stewards across the organisation to populate Key Data Elements (KDEs) for business critical processes.

  • Analyse and record both the data lineage and Data Quality controls of identified KDEs in line with the data governance policy, working with the Data Quality team to identify and define new controls where required.

  • Support the implementation of Data Governance controls across the business, aligning to the SCUK Data Management Framework

  • Assist in expanding the use of the Internal control model documentation from existing, risk based processes to cover all data within SCUK

  • Manage and maintain the central record inventory, and run the monthly assurance process for off system records.

  • Assist with the remediation of Gaps identified in the 2026 DISA risk self assessment exercise

  • Participate in audit recommendations relating to Data Governance

  • Participate in project workstreams relating to Data Governance

  • Manage communications both with Data Owners and Data Stewards within the organisation, as well as Santander colleagues from outside SCUK.

  • Take a role in fulfilling ad hoc requests and projects

  • Deal with or escalate any identified risks in relation to Santander Consumer risk policies and/or legislative and regulatory guidelines in accordance with the Santander UK group risk framework.

  • Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our customers’ needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build relationships at all levels.

  • Analytical and data-focused mindset, with experience reviewing systems, processes and business requirements.

  • Competent Excel skills, with experience of data/reporting tools highly desirable.

  • Ability to quickly learn new business areas, systems, software and technologies.

  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to high standards and seeing tasks through to completion.

  • Flexible and organised, able to manage changing priorities and multiple initiatives effectively.

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of an established team.

  • Solid work ethic, emotional intelligence and commitment to delivering results.

  • Data-related accreditations are desirable.
