Job Description
We are looking for a talented Agile Scrum Master who can help drive the product development teams to higher levels on the Agile maturity curve, inculcate continuous process improvement, and take ownership of delivering significant productivity improvement of the Agile Teams
Responsibilities:
•Responsible for enacting SCRUM values and principles: facilitate Daily SCRUM meetings; organize Sprint Planning/Grooming sessions; Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives; Maintain JIRA, Information Radiators, etc. for teams
•Work with program management and product owners to ensure product backlogs are well groomed, prioritized and visible to all stakeholders. Work with product owners to develop release plans and organize backlog items into priority groups. Work with product owners to adjust release plans following each sprint review
•Ensure team members are collectively responsible for all aspects of agreed work (analysis, development, testing, and documentation)
•Ensure team maintains an appropriate balance of automated end-to-end system tests (“functional tests”) and automated unit tests (“JUnit tests”). Ensure the team’s definition of done for each product backlog item includes full-automated test coverage and refactoring based on test driven development strategies
•Participate in Scrum of Scrum meetings to ensure cross-team collaboration and coordination of release plans and integration testing activities. Understand the dependencies both to and from the program and work with the other programs to ensure interdependent initiatives are aligned on sequencing and timing
•Define how the team uses agile methodologies within the team and how it interfaces with other teams using Waterfall development methodologies
•Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment to ensure that the team is fully functional and productive
•Guide the team on how to get the most out of self-organization
•Facilitate getting the work done via discussion, decision making and conflict resolution
•Enable close collaboration across all roles and functions
•Shield the team from external interferences
•Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency and radiating information
•Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised with an emphasis on problem solving
•Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team
•Work with the product team to ensure a successful rollout to the customers
•Ensure release notes (if applicable) are sent out on time, and completed by the Product Owner
•Ensure the operational aspects to maintain new products are supported by appropriate teams
QualificationsRequired Skills:
At least 3-5 years as a Scrum Master
Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development
Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
Understand other processes and methodologies and can speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise
Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
Understand backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, task definition, and techniques for customizing the Scrum approach
Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and development practices
Moderate to expert-level knowledge of Atlassian tools (Jira, Jira Agile, Confluence) supporting the Scrum Methodology
First level Scrum Master certification (CSM and/or PMI-ACP) required
BA/BS or equivalent work experience required
Preferred Skills:
PMP Certification desired
Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Practitioner)
Experience filling the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a web development team
Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)
Knowledge of other approaches discussed in the Agile space: Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework, Kanban, Scrumban etc.
Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum, including training, conferences, user groups and self-study
