Introduction to the job
At ASML, innovation is at the core of everything we do, and our IT & Data department plays a critical role in driving this innovation forward. As a Scrum Master, you will be part of this effort, guiding teams to deliver our exciting and complex projects efficiently while ensuring smooth collaboration. As part of our IT Gateway Program – formerly known as the Early Career Program – we are looking for multiple Scrum Masters. If you are early in your career and passionate about helping teams succeed, no matter your study background, this is a great opportunity to grow with us.
Role and responsibilities
Your main job as Scrum Master is to ensure your team works smoothly and continuously improves. You’ll do this through Agile working—a flexible approach to managing projects. No prior Agile experience is needed, as you’ll learn on the job. Agile breaks large tasks into smaller steps, encouraging teams to adapt quickly to change. It focuses on collaboration, feedback, and constant improvement. Your key responsibilities will include:
-
Facilitating agile practices: Guide teams through essential Agile activities such as planning, daily standups, demos, and retrospectives. These help the team stay focused, work efficiently, and continuously improve.
-
Driving team efficiency: Encourage teams to self-organize, stay focused on delivering their work on time, and improve their performance. You’ll also shield the team from external distractions, allowing them to stay productive.
-
Removing obstacles: Identify and address any roadblocks that slow down the team’s progress. When necessary, escalate issues to maintain momentum and keep projects moving forward smoothly.
-
Coaching and mentoring: Help both the team and stakeholders understand and embrace Agile principles. You’ll coach the team to work more collaboratively and guide individual team members to foster growth and development.
Additionally, you'll collaborate closely with stakeholders like Release Train Engineers and other Scrum Masters to manage dependencies. You'll also ensure tools like Jira and SNOW are up to date, track progress, and report on improvements.

What We Do
ASML is a high-tech company, headquartered in the Netherlands. We manufacture the complex lithography machines that chipmakers use to produce integrated circuits, or computer chips. Over 30 years, we have grown from a small startup into a multinational company with over 60 locations across Europe, Asia and the US.
Behind ASML’s innovations are engineers who think ahead. The people who work at our company include some of the most creative minds in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, mechatronics, optics, mechanical engineering, computer science and software engineering.
Because ASML spends more than €2 billion per year on R&D, our teams have the freedom, support and resources to experiment, test and push the boundaries of technology. They work in close-knit, multidisciplinary teams, listening to and learning from each other.
