Compensation

Our Compensation System is designed to reward remarkable work, grow your impact and support the whole “you” over the course of your career.

We believe in paying people fairly, so we've established a compensation model aimed to ensure everyone at Fearless — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, nationality, or negotiation skills — is given equal pay for equal work. Our approach to compensation is intended to ensure our total package serves all of your needs and includes base pay, medical and other benefits, performance rewards, 401k matching, plus a few perks (tech and wellness reimbursement programs)! Our salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location and provide team members salary growth within a salary grade over time. Team members automatically progress within a salary range through annual increases (given to reward service at Fearless) or merit increases (given to reward and individual's demonstrated performance and growth within the position). Fearless team members are also eligible for discretionary bonuses based on company performance.

The salary ranges for this position based on location are listed below.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified as a part of our annual salary range review.

  • AL, FL, GA, TN Residents:  $81,946 (min) - $104,482 (mid) - $127,017 (max)
  • NC Residents: $84,481 (min) - $107,713 (mid) - $130,945 (max)
  • DE, MD, PA, TX, VA Residents: $88,705 (min) - $113,099 (mid) - $137,493 (max) 
  • DC Residents: $99,687 (min) - $127,101 (mid) - $154,515 (max)
  • CA & NY Residents:  $103,067 (min) - $131,410 (mid) - $159,753 (max)

Fearless is looking for a Scrum Master II to add to our diverse team of 250+ employees (and counting!).

What you’ll be doing

We’re looking to change the world by building software with a soul, and we want your help.

The Scrum Master II works directly with an agile team to advise and oversee performance against agile values, practices, and processes. As a servant leader, the Scrum Master II monitors team performance through the project’s dashboards and helps identify continuous improvement opportunities to help the team work better and smarter. Working with the Product Owner, the Scrum Master II supports the work of the team by monitoring the backlog and facilitating agile ceremonies such as stand ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives. 

The Scrum Master II collaborates regularly with the Portfolio Director and/or Program Manager for the project to help prioritize and implement quality agile process initiatives and surface reporting across the business about the status and quality of engineering projects.

Responsibilities and Contributions 

Organizational and Leadership Role 

  • Leads the team through servant leadership.
  • Strengthens agile practice and communities.

Functional Role 

  • Facilitates agile Scrum ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint review, backlog refinement, and retrospective.
  • Tracks and reports team performance metrics.
  • In partnership with Passion Coach, Portfolio Director, and the team, assists with and implements improvements to agile processes.
  • Plans and coordinates schedules and resolves dependencies with other teams.
  • Removes project obstacles and develops solutions with the team.
  • Provides guidance to the team and customer organization on how to use agile/Scrum practices and values.
  • Provides guidance to the team on how to self-organize.
  • Coaches the team, filling in any gaps in knowledge of agile/Scrum frameworks and processes.
  • Assesses the Scrum maturity of the team and organization, coaching the team to higher levels of maturity at a comfortable and sustainable pace.
  • Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
  • Facilitates the team in getting work done without coercion, assigning, or dictation.
  • Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency and radiating information.
  • Provides all support to the team using servant leadership style and leading by example.
  • Contributes to portfolio activities, including keeping Portfolio Directors and Program Managers in the loop; where valuable, coordinates across the portfolio with other projects or Scrum Masters.
  • Participates in operational syncs with the Portfolio Director and is able to create action plans.
  • Champions building partner relationships and creating a badgeless/unified environment where every team member is valued.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies  

Must-Have Skills

  • Ability to obtain required security clearance for this project: Public Trust
  • Completed Bachelor's degree (any field of study qualifies)
  • Relevant agile/Scrum Master certification (CSM or PSM)
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated working experience as a Scrum Master
  • Federal government contracting experience is required
  • Prior experience leading projects or as a Scrum Master.
  • Prior experience working with a ticketing system such as Jira, Trello, or GitLab.
  • Ability to partner effectively with those in other practice areas, such as Product Managers and Engineers, to deliver quality products to customers.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and keep the team focused on the right things.
  • Ability to provide guidance, mentoring, and context to team members.
  • Proven experience rallying a team to deliver on commitments.
  • Proven experience using dashboards and metrics to drive team performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, build relationships, and influence others.

Icing-on-the-Cake Skills 

  • SAFe / Release Train Engineer certifications
  • Experience working with federal, state, or local Government.
  • Experience using product thinking and product management best practices.
