About The Company:

At Scribd (pronounced “scribbed”), our mission is to spark human curiosity. Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our four products: Everand, Scribd, Slideshare, and Fable.

We support a culture where our employees can be real and be bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer.

When it comes to workplace structure, we believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections.  It’s through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, that employees – in partnership with their manager – can choose the daily work-style that best suits their individual needs. A key tenet of Scribd Flex is our prioritization of intentional in-person moments to build collaboration, culture, and connection. For this reason, occasional in-person attendance is required for all Scribd employees, regardless of their location.

So what are we looking for in new team members? Well, we hire for “GRIT”. The textbook definition of GRIT is demonstrating the intersection of passion and perseverance towards long term goals. At Scribd, we are inspired by the potential that this can unlock, and ask each of our employees to pursue a GRIT-ty approach to their work. In a tactical sense, GRIT is also a handy acronym that outlines the standards we hold ourselves and each other to.  Here’s what that means for you: we’re looking for someone who showcases the ability to set and achieve Goals, achieve Results within their job responsibilities, contribute Innovative ideas and solutions, and positively influence the broader Team through collaboration and attitude.

About the Team

The mission of the Data & Analytics team is to ensure the entire company understands business performance and trends, and to empower all business teams to make good decisions with data.

The Customer Business Systems (CBS) organization focuses on the core systems that let Scribd securely monetize and protect our products across Scribd, Everand, Slideshare, and Fable. CBS is responsible for Payments, Identity, and Infrastructure Security, from how users authenticate and subscribe to how we process payments globally, prevent fraud and chargebacks, and meet compliance and online safety expectations.

About You

The Analytics Manager, CBS (Payments & Identity) will be the senior analytics lead for our Payments and Identity squads. You will shape how we measure and optimize the full payments and identity lifecycle, including authorization, settlement, retries and recovery, subscription billing outcomes, account creation, login flows, and identity risk.

You are a highly motivated and analytical problem solver who thrives at the intersection of product strategy, platform reliability, and financial performance. You bring strong domain knowledge in online payments and digital identity and have a solid understanding of how Payment Service Providers (PSPs) operate and how to evaluate them. You are comfortable quantifying tradeoffs between cost, resilience, risk, and customer experience. You care about data quality and observability as much as dashboards and insights. You are also a strong people manager and mentor who can guide other analysts, set standards, and be a trusted thought partner to engineering, product, finance, and operations leaders.

You Will
  • Lead end to end analytics for the payments lifecycle across all brands and PSPs, including authorization rates, settlement performance, retries and dunning, recapture, passive churn, and bill through, connecting these metrics directly to subscriber and revenue outcomes.

  • Develop, maintain, and socialize core Payments KPIs such as Payment Success Rate (PSR), settlement rate, PSP volume share, cost per transaction, cost of ownership, fraud and chargeback guardrails, and other metrics needed to guide ongoing payments strategy and decision making.

  • Serve as the primary analytics partner for Payments strategy work, including PSP configuration, routing and redundancy, local and alternative payment methods, retries and dunning strategy, and initiatives that reduce the cost of payments while maintaining or improving performance and customer experience.

  • Lead analytics for Identity flows, including account creation completion, authentication performance, login and signup friction, error rates, dormant account behavior, and identity risk and safety metrics. Help define the analytics foundation and metrics framework for a new Identity squad, including baselining and goal setting.

  • Manage and mentor analysts, starting with a Payments focused analyst, by providing coaching, feedback, and technical guidance, reviewing queries and dashboards, and helping grow the CBS analytics function over time.

  • Build and maintain reliable dashboards and reporting in Looker and Databricks that provide a holistic view of Payments and Identity health, including leading indicators, output metrics, and guardrails for fraud, chargebacks, and compliance thresholds.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to size impact and support scenario planning for PSP strategy, routing changes, fraud controls, billing changes, and identity initiatives, modeling tradeoffs across revenue, cost, risk, and customer experience.

  • Drive instrumentation and data quality strategy for Payments and Identity by defining data and event requirements, partnering with engineering on tracking and observability, and implementing data quality checks and anomaly detection for key flows.

  • Collaborate with Data Platform and Data Engineering on data models that make Payments and Identity data easier to query, debug, and monitor, and that support fast development of new metrics and dashboards.

  • Establish best practices for CBS analytics, including coding standards, documentation, peer review, and clear, consistent definitions for metrics used in leadership reviews, vendor scorecards, and commercial discussions with PSPs.

You Have
  • 6+ years of experience in product, payments, or platform analytics, ideally in a subscription based or consumer facing environment.

  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing analysts, either as a formal people manager or through clear leadership and mentorship of other analysts.

  • Deep domain knowledge of online payments and Payment Service Providers (PSPs), including concepts such as authorization and settlement, retries and dunning, decline reasons, fraud and chargebacks, and the ability to evaluate PSP performance and cost.

  • Hands-on experience with payments and subscription metrics such as authorization rate, settlement rate, bill through rate, recapture rate, passive churn, PSP volume share, and unit economics and cost of ownership for payments.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for large scale data querying and transformation, and experience with Python or R for deeper analysis, modeling, and experiment support.

  • Strong experience with BI tools, ideally Looker, including building and optimizing dashboards, LookML modeling, and setting standards for data governance and self serve reporting.

  • Experience working with modern data platforms such as Databricks or similar technologies, collaborating with data engineering, and balancing performance, reliability, and cost.

  • Experience with event instrumentation and experimentation for billing, payments, or identity flows, partnering with engineering on schema design, tracking plans, and experiment measurement.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of influencing senior partners across product, engineering, and finance and translating complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is a plus.

This is a unique opportunity to define how Scribd measures and optimizes the systems that power secure monetization and account protection. You will help build the metrics, data foundations, and insights that guide Payments and Identity strategy while mentoring analysts and partnering closely with teams that keep our business resilient, compliant, and ready for growth.
