The Scientist will lead several research projects under guidance from Director of Research. Strong hands-on research capabilities and skills with emphasis on optics/lasers/biophotonics are essential. Main focus of the position is on investigating various aspects of interaction of laser energy with biological systems. This position is also responsible for assisting other departments (Manufacturing, Clinical, Regulatory, QA etc) in investigating, verifying, optimizing, and validating prospective technologies and treatment/evaluation concepts.
Duties:
- Conducts experimental research aimed at fastest development of new products and technologies
- Designs, builds, and maintains experimental lab capabilities to meet project development needs
- Develops, maintains, and leverages thorough working knowledge of the company's current products
- Prepares and maintains all necessary project documentation;
- Generates relevant IP and publications
- Interacts with other groups and departments of the company, both providing necessary assistance and utilizing their resources to move the projects forward
- Generates ideas and proposals for prospective R&D directions
- Keeps abreast with current knowledge on topics of relevance
- Analyzes and summarizes collected data, timely reports results, and adjusts research directions if necessary
Experience Desired:
- At least 2 years of R&D experience in industrial or academic environment
Essential Skills Required:
- Strong “hands-on” lab experience required with demonstrated ability to design, build, and maintain experimental set-ups as well as to perform scientific experiments;
- Proficiency in basic optical/laser/biophotonics skills;
- Ability to quickly statistically process and reduce to meaningful conclusions large volumes of experimental data;
- Working knowledge of modern statistical analysis tools (AI experience desired);
- Demonstrated ability to transform experimental results/conclusions into written reports and presentations;
- Familiarity with physical, biochemical, and/or biological aspects of interaction of biological systems with directed energy (in particular, optical);
- Experience with mathematical software (MathCad, MatLab), database programming tools, data processing tools, CAD tools;
- Travel may be required 1-5 % of the time.
Education Required:
- Masters or PhD Degree in biomedical engineering, optics, laser physics or similar field
