Scientist/Senior Scientist, Biochemist/Structural Biologist (Cryo-EM/GPCR Focused)

We are seeking a highly motivated and Scientist/Senior Scientist, experienced in Biochemistry/Structural Biology specializing in Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) or other membrane proteins to join a dynamic and well-funded research organization. The successful candidate will assist structural biology efforts to elucidate high-resolution structures of GPCR complexes, contributing to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics. This role requires deep expertise in protein biochemistry, structural biology, and Cryo-EM.
- Cryo-EM Structural Biology:
- Design and execute Cryo-EM experiments for structure determination of challenging biomolecular complexes.
- Oversee sample preparation, data collection, image processing, and model building.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve Cryo-EM workflows and structural outputs.
- Protein Biochemistry:
- Lead efforts in protein engineering, purification, and characterization to ensure high-quality samples for structural studies.
- Optimize protein stability and homogeneity for Cryo-EM applications.
- Collaborative Research:
- Work closely with computational chemists, medicinal chemists, and biologists to integrate structural data into drug design.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze Cryo-EM and structural data to derive meaningful insights.
- Present findings to internal stakeholders and external collaborators.
- Author high-impact publications and contribute to intellectual property filings.
- Preferred Education and Experience:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Biophysics, or a related field.
- Preferred post-doctoral or industry experience in structural biology with a focus on membrane proteins and Cryo-EM.
- Proven track record of high-resolution structure determination using Cryo-EM.
- Expertise in protein expression, purification, and biochemical characterization.
- Proficiency with Cryo-EM software pipelines (e.g., CryoSPARC, Relion & Coot).
- Strong publication record demonstrating expertise in Cryo-EM and structural biology.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Preferred Skills, Qualifications, or Technical Proficiencies:
- Experience with membrane proteins or multi-protein complexes especially GPCRs.
- Familiarity with integrative structural biology and biophysics approaches.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Understanding of drug discovery and development processes.
