Our Feed and Enzyme Research department in Animal Biosolutions Applied Research at Novonesis is looking for a high-energy and motivated junior scientist or post-doctoral researcher with a strong passion for bioprocessing, enzymatic digestion, and microbial fermentation.
This 3-year fixed-term position is an excellent opportunity to start a career at Novonesis and in the biotech industry—especially if you are coming directly from academia. You will gain strong hands-on experience, independence, and visibility while working closely with experienced scientists and key stakeholders in an informal, trust-based environment with room for curiosity, humor, and continuous development.
The Role & Your Impact
In this role, you will contribute to applied industrial research with a clear focus on product development and innovation. You will work independently on a defined research project while being supported by management and experienced colleagues.
Your key responsibilities will include:
· Planning, executing, and communicating your own research activities with a high degree of ownership
· Conducting hands-on laboratory work related to bioprocessing, enzymatic digestion, and microbial fermentation
· Developing a strong scientific understanding of product mode of action, application, and industry needs
· Analyzing and interpreting experimental data and presenting results in a clear and accessible way
· Collaborating closely with colleagues across R&D, Marketing, and other key stakeholder groups
You will be part of a diverse team located across Lyngby and Hørsholm, representing a wide range of scientific disciplines, cultures, and professional backgrounds.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
To succeed in this role, you must have:
· An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, Fermentation Technology, or a related scientific discipline
· An applied scientific mindset, with customer value and end-use clearly in focus
· Solid understanding of enzymes and microbial–substrate interactions, including experience with up-cycling of raw materials
· The ability and motivation to independently design and execute laboratory experiments
· Proficiency in—and strong interest in—advanced data analysis and digitalization
· Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at different organizational levels
· A proactive, open-minded, and positive approach, with a clear drive to deliver results together with others
Additional Skills & Interests We Value
While not required, it is an advantage if you bring:
· Experience from applied or industrial research environments
· Familiarity with scaling, process optimization, or tech transfer
· Interest in sustainability-driven innovation within animal biosolutions
· Curiosity for cross-disciplinary collaboration and stakeholder engagement
