What you will do
Kenvue is recruiting for a Scientist Skin Health & Beauty R&D, located in Summit, NJ.
The Scientist Skin Health & Beauty R&D will support the product development of new skincare products and the maintenance of existing products within the Facial moisture category regionally and globally. They will work closely with their manager and team to understand how to build and improve the Facial moisture pipeline. They will also partner closely with cross-functional teams to assess technical risks, proactively resolve challenges, and ensure products effectively address consumer and healthcare professional needs and achieve successful launches. Responsibilities include hands-on formulation prototype development, preparing laboratory batching, staging prototype samples for informal stability, product aesthetics evaluation, project meeting attendance and updates, maintain accurate technical documentation, prepare technical reports, and support compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication skills together with the ability to manage complexity are must-have prerequisites.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop facial moisture formulations and execute project deliverables for regional and global initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional partners to support project timelines and milestones.
- Formulate new products that incorporate consumer insights and align with facial moisture brand strategies and innovation pipelines under the guidance of a manager.
- Design and execute laboratory experiments, including formulation development, batching, stability testing, and data analysis.
- Provide technical support across the product lifecycle, including commercialization activities, product maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Identify technical challenges and project risks, evaluate potential solutions, and support data-driven decision-making to advance project objectives.
- Partner with Technical Operations and manufacturing teams to support process development activities, including process parameter evaluation and manufacturing scale-up.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to support the successful execution of project deliverables and product launches.
- Manage and prioritize assigned project activities, communicate progress, and escalate potential risks or issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and complete records of experimental data, project documentation, and development activities.
- Prepare and contribute to technical documentation, including development reports, specifications, presentations, and patent-related materials.
- Follow established standards and practices (e.g., GDP, GLP, GMP) and support compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
What We Are Looking For
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience OR a master’s degree with 0-1 years of experience is required. A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Pharmacy, Material Science or other science or engineering discipline is preferred.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment while being an individual contributor is required.
- Technical writing skills that facilitate the creation of documents that are complete & accurate are required.
- MS Office (Word and Excel) proficiency, excellent oral and written communication skills are required-
- Effective presentations skills that are used to communicate clearly & informatively are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the consumer-packaged goods industry.
- Experience developing leave-on and rinse-off applications across skin care, hair care, baby care, and oral care and/or deodorant products.
- Good technical foundation of formulated products including emulsions, surfactants, suspensions, structured liquids, and/or an understanding of material chemistry.
- Experience collaborating with external partners, manufacturing vendors, and raw material suppliers.
- Familiarity with cGMP and other regulatory requirements is helpful
Other:
- Must be proficient in the English language.
- This position is based Summit, NJ, and requires up to 10% domestic and international travel.
