Role Overview
The Scientist I is responsible for independent method development, sample testing, and method qualification support for analytical methods for gene therapy products.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Independently design, execute, and interpret studies for development of analytical methods for AAV products.
- Author documents in support of analytical development activities.
- Review ELN entries for other group members as needed.
- Routinely execute test methods in support of process development and development vector characterization.
- Support Quality Control with qualification of analytical test methods and identify needs for release testing.
- Collaborate with other scientists and routinely present data.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Experience & Skills and Work Environment
Experience & Skills
- Degree in relevant discipline plus working experience in a pharmaceutical/ biotechnology or CRO laboratory setting:
- Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of work experience
- Master’s degree with 2+ years of work experience
- PhD degree or equivalent with 0+ years of work experience
- Experience with executing and developing separations methods (primarily HPLC), plate-based methods (i.e. ELISA and activity assays), and/or PCR assays for AAV gene. therapies or protein therapeutics
- State of the industry analytical knowledge.
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Work Environment
- Primarily a laboratory setting
- May involve standing, sitting, and using laboratory equipment for extended periods.
- Some lifting of equipment or materials may be required.
- Work may involve exposure to chemicals or biological materials; proper handling and disposal procedures must be followed.
