The Department of Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to join us as Scientist and contribute to our cutting-edge basic biology and drug discovery programs.

This position is based in South San Francisco, on site.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will be expected to conduct cellular and molecular research across a range of neurodegenerative diseases that enhances our understanding of the underlying disease mechanisms. This includes the discovery and validation of therapeutic targets, and participation in drug discovery programs. This is a hands-on position and candidates should enjoy bench work in a laboratory environment.

Your responsibilities within this role will include experimental design, data generation and analysis, interpretation, and presentation of your findings. This is a highly collaborative position and it requires you to regularly interact and collaborate with colleagues within the Department and across Genentech’s Early Research and Development (gRED) organization. 

Who You Are

The qualifications we seek are as follows: a minimum of a Master’s degree (or equivalent) combined with 2 years minimum of professional work experience, with a background in neuroscience or molecular / cell biology, a track record of consistent scientific productivity.

The successful candidate needs to possess key skills: experience with generation of primary rodent cultures, competency in live cell imaging and image analysis (IncuCyte, ImageXpress or similar), and substantial experience in a wide range of cellular biology, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Due to the collaborative nature of the position, strong communication skills are essential.

Additional skills including in vivo experience with rodent models, genome-wide genetic screens, and basic bioinformatics skills would strengthen your application.

The expected salary range for this position based on California is 85 500,00 - 158 700,00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
