The Role
Lead before- and after-school enrichment for elementary students: plan activities (games, sports, arts, STEM), supervise for safety, distribute healthy snacks, mentor students, and maintain positive behavior.

School Age Leaders provide opportunities for enrichment, physical activity, healthy eating, and positive relationships for elementary students in a before and after-school program based in the elementary schools in the La Crosse, Onalaska, and Holmen school districts. We are looking to grow our team who will influence the future of our community! 

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate fun and engaging group activities such as games, sports, arts and crafts, and STEM activities
  • Build relationships with elementary students and families
  • Ensure supervision and safety of participants
  • Provide mentorship for participants and maintain behavior expectations for elementary students using positive guidance techniques
  • Ensure healthy snacks are distributed daily as part of the Y’s Youth Food Program

Hours and Locations:
  • Positions available during the school year, Monday-Friday, 6-25 hours per week
  • Can work up to two shifts a day: 6:00-8:15 am and 3:00-6:00 pm / or 2:15-6:00 pm at some locations
  • School Age Leaders will work on-site at an elementary school in the La Crosse, Onalaska, or Holmen school districts


Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or at least 16 years of age with additional training provided
  • CPR certification within 3 months of hire date
  • Some child development courses or experience preferred
  • Reliability and clear communication
  • Able to work effectively in a team
