The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on SAP CPI & Integration Lead with 10-12 years of overall IT experience and deep expertise in SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI)/SAP Integration Suite. This role requires a strong technical leader who can architect, develop, troubleshoot, and support enterprise-wide integrations across SAP and non-SAP systems while driving global implementation and transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate should be capable of contributing directly to development while leading integration design, governance, and operational excellence across a complex application landscape.
Key Responsibilities
SAP CPI Development & Architecture
- Design, develop, deploy, and support complex integrations using SAP CPI (Integration Suite).
- Develop and maintain iFlows, exception handling frameworks, reusable integration components, and monitoring solutions.
- Configure and develop integrations using REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, OData Services, IDocs, RFCs, Proxies, JMS, HTTPS, SFTP, AS2, and SuccessFactors adapters.
- Build integrations leveraging Groovy scripting, XSLT, Message Mapping, Content Modifiers, Router, Splitter, Gather, Process Direct, and Exception Subprocesses.
- Develop custom integration patterns for real-time, synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven processing.
- Design secure integration solutions utilizing OAuth2, Principal Propagation, SAML, Certificates, and API Security standards.
Enterprise Integration Leadership
- Lead integration architecture discussions across SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Ariba, SuccessFactors, SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP IBP, SAP MDG, SAP BTP, Salesforce, and other enterprise systems.
- Drive API-first integration strategies and reusable services architecture.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects to define integration standards, governance models, and best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend modern integration approaches using SAP BTP services and cloud-native integration capabilities.
Support & Operations
- Provide L2/L3 support for critical production integration issues and lead root cause analysis activities.
- Troubleshoot complex interface failures involving mapping errors, connectivity issues, certificate renewals, payload transformations, and middleware performance bottlenecks.
- Monitor integration landscapes using SAP Integration Suite monitoring tools and implement proactive alerting mechanisms.
- Lead incident management, problem management, and service improvement activities.
- Ensure SLA compliance for business-critical integrations supporting global operations.
Performance, Security & Compliance
- Optimize integration performance through payload tuning, parallel processing, and efficient mapping design.
- Implement secure integration patterns aligned with enterprise cybersecurity standards.
- Ensure adherence to audit, compliance, data privacy, and validation requirements, especially within regulated Life Sciences environments.
- Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards across integration teams.
Innovation & Automation
- Drive adoption of SAP BTP Integration Suite capabilities including API Management, Event Mesh, and Integration Advisor.
- Explore AI/GenAI use cases for integration monitoring, automated testing, documentation generation, and operational efficiency.
- Develop reusable frameworks and accelerators to improve development, productivity and supportability.
Required Skills
- 10-12 years of IT experience with 5+ years of hands-on SAP CPI (SAP Integration Suite) development experience, including design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise integrations.
- Strong expertise in SAP CPI iFlows, Groovy Scripting, Message Mapping, XSLT, REST/SOAP APIs, OData, IDocs, RFCs, XML/JSON, and integration protocols such as SFTP, HTTPS, JMS, and AS2.
- Proven experience integrating SAP S/4HANA, ECC, SAP BTP, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Commerce Cloud, and third-party applications in complex enterprise landscapes.
- Strong knowledge of integration architecture, API Management, Event-Driven Architecture, cloud-native integrations, security frameworks (OAuth, SAML, Certificates), and performance tuning.
- Experience in global support, enhancements, implementation rollouts, DevOps/CI-CD practices, incident management, stakeholder collaboration, and SAP CPI certification is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- SAP Certified Development Associate – SAP Integration Suite / SAP CPI Certification.
- Experience in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Medical Device, or Life Sciences industries.
- Hands-on experience with SAP BTP, API Management, Event Mesh, and Cloud Integration Governance.
- Exposure to SAP Process Orchestration (PO/PI) to CPI migration projects.
- Knowledge of AI/GenAI-enabled automation and integration observability tools.
