SUMMARY

To provide material handling service for GNWT sites on a daily basis.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Support GNWT mission, and implementing Goodwill’s core values of commitment, excellence, innovation, integrity, interdependence, respect, and teamwork.
• Sort and segregate product from distributor efficiently and accurately by aisle or section onto pallets or carts for safe transport to sales floor.
• Safely and efficiently use manual pallet jacks or stacking carts to transport product to the sales floor.
• Safely, efficiently, and accurately stage product in proper sales area location through out the store.
• Assist with removal of pallets, cardboard, trash from the sales floor and returning to proper location or disposal point in the warehouse.
• Responsible for general housekeeping of assigned areas.
• Follow proper procedures for cardboard and waste disposal, safely using equipment such as balers and compactors.

• Provide outstanding Customer Service to internal and external customers.
• Assist with snow removal as necessary.
• May be required to obtain forklift and /or electric pallet truck certification in order to fill in for other positions when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Assist and supervise with making visual survey to determine:

• Type of wares: quality of goods

• Possible safety hazard and any offensive odors

• Assist with security and safety of company employees, property and assets

• Work closely and in frequent communication with all General Store Manager and the Operations Team Leaders at their locations.

• Keep production equipment in proper working order. Notify Director of Operations promptly of any defects.

• Ensures that all financial paperwork including, but not limited to, donation logs, inventories, and other assigned work is properly completed and in a timely manner.

• Enforce safety and security policies and procedures.

• Observe and report verbally and in writing to Transportation and Salvage Manager any suspicious activity which includes but not limited to, possible theft issues and employee relations issues from staff.

• Responsible for all documentation such as:  Donation log, Incident reports, Absentee reports,

• Maintain good housekeeping, keeping walkways and aisles clear of hazards at all times, inspecting on an hourly basis. Ensure that all work stations and entire donation areas are clean and organized for the next day. Ensure that all supplies necessary are at the work stations to ensure efficiency.

• Adhere to all Goodwill policies, procedures and regulations.

• Provide excellent customer service to both external and internal customers

 SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Report for work fit for duty with no impairments from drugs, alcohol, sleep deprivation or any other influencing conditions.

Immediately report any accidents/incidents/near misses or bodily fluid spills to your supervisor.

Immediately report any unsafe conditions or work practices observed to your supervisor.

Use only equipment for which you have been properly trained.

Understand the safety requirements for your job and follow GNWT Safety Policies and Rules and Regulations.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Wear proper personal protective equipment when required, in the approved manner and maintain the PPE appropriately in good working condition.

Actively participate in the safety process and attend safety training when required.

Learn and follow all safety and health requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or (GED).  Material handling experience.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods, stoop and bend, and push/pull up to 1000 lbs. on wheels.

SEDENTARY

Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally 

 LIGHT

Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Walking or standing to a significant degree involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling. 

MEDIUM

Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

HEAVY

Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to airborne particles (dust, animal hair, lint).   

May work outside in hot, cold, or wet conditions. Employees assigned to a Warehouse encounter cold and hot working conditions.

The work environment ranges from very quiet to noise
