We are looking for a full-time Lumber Sales representative. This role is commission eligible in addition to base salary.
Essential Functions
- Promote and sell Company products to customers, in
compliance with all company pricing policies and instructions, to achieve maximum
sales and gross margin rate. - Handle customer complaints promptly and effectively and report potential claims.
- Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.
- Recommend new items for stock.
- Carry out sales and merchandising programs as directed.
- Learn about customer needs and "upsell" Company products and services.
- Relay service needs of customer to appropriate Company personnel and follow-up on
customer requests. - Recommend changes to the customer as relates to standardization of products.
- Participate in training sessions, trade shows and sales meetings as requested. Assist in
training of new Sales Representatives as directed. - Respond to customer requests, explain merchandise features.
- Provides samples, brochures and other point-of-sale information to customers.
- Accurately completes all paperwork for sales, special orders and requests.
- Rings up sales on cash register.
- Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.
- Maintains communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.
- Greets and interacts with customers.
- Collects payment using the store point of sale system.
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience
- Minimum Education (or substitute experience required):
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- At least three years of related experience required.
- On-the-job training provided.
Minimum experience required:
- Two to four years' industry-specific experience.
- One to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills required:
- Broad knowledge of product line; proven ability to work
independently to achieve goals; negotiating skills along with ability to sell and be
persuasive; broad knowledge of business administration, sales and marketing;
professional appearance and demeanor. - Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
