Responsible for maximizing sales and distribution of all Beverage South (GA/SC) products within assigned territory and account base. Executes the planning, selling, marketing, merchandising, distribution and reporting functions within territory in order to accomplish performance results against objectives.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Sales Representative reports directly to the Area Sales Manager. This position must obtain increased sales & market share through identifying opportunities, strong customer rapport, professional selling skills and quality service. The Sales Representative must also assure quality standards are maintained through proper product rotation and inventory control.

This position should regularly review route efficiencies, relay pertinent competitive information to management and be proactive with sales, marketing and package strategies.

Performance is measured by achievement of sales, distribution, quality and display goals as set by management. In addition, territory & time management, planning skills, selling skills, personal presentation, administration, customer service, product rotation, quality and execution against shelf management and POS standards will be measured.

PRINCIPAL INTERACTIONS

  • Delivery-Merchandisers, daily to discuss account specific delivery information or customer service issues.
  • District Manager, daily to discuss current execution vs. goals and any pertinent competitive or customer information.
  • Merchandisers, as needed to discuss merchandising instructions and or customer needs.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

This position requires 2 years sales experience or 2 years of consumer goods experience. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid drivers’ license and a clean driving record. Candidate must be self-motivated, highly organized and able to demonstrate professional sales and administration skills. Must be goal oriented and able to prioritize multiple goals and strategies. Must be capable of time management, strategic planning, concise communication & strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule and be physically able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds of product regularly.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Maximize retail sales for your accounts through the implementation and execution of established sales, distribution, marketing, supplier and QA program goals.
  2. Develop tight & timely monthly plan to establish goals and strategically manage territory resources, talent and time.
  3. Complete thorough month-end recap of actual performance results against objectives.
  4. Execute against strategic pricing standards to include; competitive PTC (price to consumer), use of label, shelf, display, POS and window pricing where appropriate.
  5. Responsible for designing displays and marketing at retail that meets or exceeds merchandising & retail standards.
  • Display location in primary or high traffic flow location
  • All products represented as per display standards
  • All products represented available for consumer purchase
  • All products represented in reasonable quantities
  • Current or thematic point of sale always used
  • Display accurately priced, and price signs placed in most visible locations
  • Display rotated properly to ensure oldest product is available for first sale
  • Display to be on-time or early to maximize promotional ad date windows
  • Responsible for the installation of permanent and paper point of sale
  • All point of sale placed is current and relevant to market place
  1. Increase consumer awareness and purchase intent of brands through proactive product distribution and shelf management practices to include; professionally selling for additional space, location, traffic flow, ribbonization, shelf tags and facings of product.
  2. Manage quality of all Beverage South products to ensure that only fresh and damage free product is available for sale and consumption. Works with delivery personnel for purposes of exchanging close coded product. Practices first-in / first-out rotation.
  3. Work to ensure effective internal communication by concisely discussing facts with relevant co-workers (drivers, sales manager and merchandisers) involved with, or affected by the situation.
  4. Develops, mentors and manages driver servicing account base. This is done in effort to improve skills, information & teamwork, ultimately resulting in superior service and retail execution.
  5. Utilize data, marketing data, hand held & build sheet data, as well as, strategic planning to ensure proper forecasting, pre-selling and inventory levels. This maximizes effective distribution and eliminates over stock, out of stock and out of date situations.
  6. Complies with all state, local and federal laws pertaining to the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverage products. Executes all responsibilities of this position according to Beverage South (GA/SC) Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years sales or consumer goods experience
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
