SUMMARY
Ensures customer retention and the profitability of this profit center by recruiting qualified sales personnel. Assumes responsibility for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising the used vehicle inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Employees and Process
- Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Hires, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all New Vehicle sales employees.
- Directs and schedules the activities of all New Vehicle department employees, ensuring proper staffing at all times.
- Assists individual salespeople in setting aggressive yet realistic monthly goals and objectives and provides them with the support to meet these goals.
- Manages and monitors the company designated follow-up system for used vehicle purchasers.
- Ensures employee compliance with company payroll record system.
- Manages employee work schedule in accordance with staffing needs while complying with company policy and all legal regulations
- Conducts weekly sales and sales training meetings.
- Establishes and enforces product knowledge and training standards.
- Helps salespeople close deals.
- Establishes delivery procedures and ensures that delivery of Honda vehicles include an introduction to the service department
- Handles customer and employee complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines.
- Substitutes as Sales Manager for the Used Car department as needed for coverage
- Assist Finance Department as needed to maximize gross profit and expedite funding.
- Attends managers meetings.
- Completes and maintains all required training.
- Comply with Smoking Policy with no residual smoke odor.
- Maintains professional appearance.
Inventory
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect New Vehicle sales.
- Ensures all laws and regulations are enforced.
- Regular inspection of facility and equipment. Maintain clean, safe and professional workplace.
- Maintains vehicle inventory display to maximize sales and turnover of aged units.
- Communicates regularly with Used Vehicle Department managers regarding units needed for used vehicle inventory
- Regularly evaluates market conditions and inventory to establish and adjust the retail price to promote sales and gross profit
- Coordinates Dealer Trades.
- Appraises incoming used vehicles.
- Reports lease termination vehicles to lessor and acquires as needed.
- Plans and controls the display of used vehicles at the New Vehicle location.
- Keeps abreast of auto auction activity and prices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Previous Audi managerial experience
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four year College or university or two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Able to effectively utilize equipment and systems for the job (including, telephone, computer, e-mail, copier, scanner, printer, etc.)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
