About the Position
The Sales Engineer – Southeast Asia (Malaysia/Indonesia) reports to the Manager of APAC Sales Engineering and is responsible for driving technical sales success and supporting revenue growth within an assigned geographic area. They are responsible for directly engaging end users to stimulate business through indirect sales channels such as value-added resellers (VARs), resellers and distributors, and to serve as liaisons to channel partners with regards to any sales-related service and support issues.
A Day in the Life
The main responsibilities of the role include forging strategic relationships with channel partners to help them develop, support, and sell our solutions. Additionally, they are the primary technical contact for end users interested in purchasing the WatchGuard product lines. SEs train and support partners, provide demos to both partners and customers, assist in customer evaluations & Proof of Concepts (POCs), as well as deliver technical enablement and help answer questions from their customers relating to our solutions. SEs help answer RFP questions and provide customer and partner feedback to our Product Management team, helping to represent the needs of our customers, partners and field teams. In addition to these responsibilities, the Sales Engineer serves as a trusted cybersecurity advisor to partners, customers and the sales organization, working closely with the sales teams during sales calls and meetings to help evangelize WatchGuard solutions.
Position Responsibilities
Must be based in the assigned Southeast Asia (Malaysia/Indonesia) territory, with the ability to travel regionally as required to support customer, partner and company events.
Identify, develop and expand technical relationships with key distributors, resellers and MSSP partners in territory
Drive revenue growth through reseller partners to end customers by providing pre-sales technical support and technical training.
Assist field sales with technical pre-sales activities and appropriate post-sales escalation support
Assist in increasing reseller, partner, and end user adoption of WatchGuard’s products through tradeshows and training (seminars, webinars, technical training, etc.)
Drive coordination of inter-departmental technical resources as needed to close prospective opportunities
Escalate and resolve partner and customer issues when appropriate
Assist evaluation customers with the setup and configuration of WatchGuard network security, endpoint security and cloud security solutions
Identify and report on competitive trends (products, promotions, etc.)
Create technical content to present to various audiences including end users and partners
Required Skills
Deliver compelling, energetic demonstrations, workshops, and presentations on security products and technologies, with the ability to handle customer objections and inquiries
Strong networking and network security background
Pre-sales, solution consulting, technical enablement or equivalent customer-facing technical experience
Strong written and verbal communication, listening, and negotiation skills.
Ability to present and discuss technical concepts in English and local languages, e.g. Bahasa, Mandarin/Cantonese.
Ability to create end-to-end security solutions for customer environments
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, proactive and results oriented in a remote environment
Ability to balance competing priorities

Experience with network security, endpoint security, MDR, XDR, cloud security or managed security platforms is advantageous
Wireless networking knowledge or experience

Experience & Education
2+ years in network security, cybersecurity, solution engineering, technical consulting, partner enablement or customer-facing technical roles.
Prior pre-sales technical experience is preferred.
BS/BA or equivalent practical experience
Relevant industry certifications such as networking, security, cloud, endpoint, firewall or vendor-specific certifications are advantageous.
