Sales Development Representative (SDR)

Position Description
The Sales Development Representative is responsible for researching, qualifying, and setting initial meetings with prospects for the Account Executive team. If you are driven by clear goals and quick wins, this may be a good fit for you.
Sales Development Representatives collaborate with Marketing and Client Acquisition team members to develop strategies and best practices for prospecting efforts in a B2B environment. They have the autonomy to plan their workday as they see fit. A typical day is spent reaching out to marketing qualified leads (prospects who have already expressed interest in Dakota), documenting activities in the CRM, and conducting research into potential targets.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to begin their career in software sales and marketing. More than half of our existing sales team started in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research to identify new leads and target accounts
- Engage prospects by phone, email and social media to generate interest in Dakota’s software products and services
- Qualify leads and prospects by identifying and documenting specific needs relative to Dakota's product offering
- Develop new business opportunities by securing initial meetings for Account Executives with qualified decision makers
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments through web research (trade journals, newsletters, blogs, etc.), trade-shows, webinars, and educational meetings
- Act as an ambassador of Dakota when engaging with clients and prospects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related fields; Or Sales Certificate and similar education preferred
- Entry-level applicants welcome to apply
- 1-2 years of professional sales lead generation experience preferred
- Experience working independently, setting goals, and executing against them
- Experience with CRM software management and documentation preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
- Understanding of enterprise software solutions preferred
- Active listening and empathy skills; ex. The ability to understand a prospect’s challenges and communicate how our solutions can address their needs
- Written and oral communication skills
- Time management skills; ex. Understanding how to properly prioritize tasks and resources to maximize the efficiency of daily efforts
- Strong accountability and self-motivation, with a drive to succeed
- Desire to grow, learn, improve, and excel with an energetic and optimistic attitude
- Interest in pursuing a professional career in Sales preferred
