We are seeking a motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) to support our growing sales efforts across the United States and Australia. This role is focused on prospecting, pipeline generation, and sales support for our Account Executives, helping accelerate revenue growth and expand Surfline Coastal Intelligence’s footprint with government and enterprise customers. As an early sales hire on the SCI team, you will play a critical role in building scalable outbound processes, engaging qualified prospects, and enabling successful deal execution across multiple regions.
Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from any location within Southern California.
What You’ll Do:
- Identify and research prospective municipal, state, and private enterprise customers across the United States and Australia.
- Execute outbound prospecting campaigns through email, phone, and LinkedIn to generate qualified meetings and pipeline for Account Executives.
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads, understanding customer needs, use cases, and buying processes.
- Schedule discovery calls and product demos for US and ANZ sales reps, ensuring a smooth handoff and strong first impression.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM, including lead status, activity tracking, and contact data.
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to refine messaging, targeting, and ideal customer profiles.
- Contribute to the development of repeatable prospecting playbooks and outbound best practices.
- Help build a culture of planning, execution, and accountability across the Surfline Coastal Intelligence sales team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in a Sales Development, Business Development, or similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect into government agencies, municipalities, or enterprise organizations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable learning and explaining technical or data-driven products at a high level.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple accounts and regions simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving environment.
- Proficiency with CRM and sales engagement tools (HubSpot, Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, LeadIQ, etc.).
- US-based, with flexibility to support Australia sales efforts across time zones when needed.
- Experience supporting B2G sales or public-sector procurement processes.
- Familiarity with coastal safety, environmental monitoring, or infrastructure-related markets.
- Interest in AI, machine learning, or data-driven decision tools.
- Understanding of oceanography, coastal science, or environmental data.
- A personal passion for the ocean and/or surfing.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 plus sales incentives. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Surfline's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.
