The Role

Position based: Sydney or Melbourne, Australia

Role summary:

The Sales & Business Development Manager is responsible for establishing and ensuring the implementation of the strategic direction that achieves growth ambitions for the ANZ region. Wiil need to have close coordination to ensure dependable support is obtained from supply chain and marketing/technical.

Key responsibilities and activities:  

1. Sales & Marketing

  • Develop and execute effective sales and marketing strategies to drive growth of ROCKWOOL ANZ sales revenue.
  • Actively undertake prospecting and specification activities with key stake holders.
  • Client relationship management.

2. Business Development

  • Look to grow channels to market with the right partners.       
  • Facilitate promotional campaigns and brand positioning with marketing team.
  • Analyse market trends and identify/explore/develop potential new business opportunities.

3. Customer Service

  • Work with customer service team (currently based in Malaysia) to ensure timely, professional, and effective customer support
  • Establish and monitor customer service metrics to continuously improve service quality.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and champion a customer-centric culture.

4. Supply Chain Management

  • Work with the supply chain team (currently based in Malaysia) to ensure efficient end-to-end processes from procurement to delivery.
  • Ensure freight rates that are being offered are at a competitive level.
  • Optimize inventory management, logistics, and supplier relationships for cost efficiency and timely fulfilment.
  • Implement best practices to strengthen the country’s supply chain resilience.

5. Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and present reports on sales performance, tracking of initiatives, customer service levels and any other relevant reports required by management.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, health & safety regulations, and legal requirements.

6. Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Participate in the development of country-specific business plans and budgets.

7.  Leadership & Team Management

  • Set clear performance expectations and KPIs; regularly review and develop support team capabilities.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture across all teams.
  • Identify resources required that matches business ambition.

Required Skills & Experience  

Skills & Experience – Essential 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Building Materials Sales or management role.
  • Open to Sales & Marketing professionals or junior Country Managers who are looking to grow with a dynamic, forward-moving organization.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales growth, efficient supply chain operations, and high customer satisfaction.
  • Fluency in English.

Skills & Experience - Desirable 

  • Digital Fluency: ERP systems e.g. SAP, Workday, or data analytics tools Sales Force, Microsoft Dynamic 365, Tableau, Power Bi for manufacturing or commercial decision-making.
  • Exposure to sustainability-driven practices (e.g., decarbonization in manufacturing, ESG reporting).
  • Government/Agency Relations: Experience working with building authorities, certification bodies, or government grant programs.
  • Commercial Expansion: Experience targeting new customers in relevant segments and launching new product lines in Australia, (demonstrating success in this area is more important than geographic location).
  • Price management: Be able to demonstrate strong awareness of price management and the work to continually improve pricing in competitive markets.

Other Requirements:
Other: Must possess own transportation for customer visits, any events within Australia.

Willing to travel within Asia region when required.
