Rigaku is seeking a strategic and customer-focused Sales Account Manager (SAM) to drive growth within key semiconductor accounts and foster strong, long-term customer partnerships. As the primary point of contact for assigned customers, you will orchestrate customer interactions, account strategy, and business development activities while serving as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders across the organization.


In this role, you will work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to identify new business opportunities, support commercial activities, align customer and Rigaku roadmaps, and drive annual sales performance. Success in this position requires the ability to build strong relationships, navigate complex customer organizations, and collaborate across regional and global teams to achieve shared business objectives.


Essential Functions


Account Strategy & Partnership Management

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of customers' business, technical, and organizational needs.
  • Align with headquarters and regional teams on long-term account objectives and growth strategies.
  • Establish and execute account plans that drive results and strengthen customer partnerships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across customer organizations, including Executive Leadership, Engineering, R&D, and Procurement.
  • Organize executive meetings, technical review meetings (TRMs), workshops, and other customer engagement activities.

Business Development & Customer Success

  • Strategically drive new business opportunities and annual sales performance within assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with applications, service, and technical development teams to identify and pursue growth opportunities.
  • Align customer and Rigaku roadmaps to support expansion into new application areas and customer locations.
  • Coordinate with regional support teams and headquarters to address customer escalations and CIP requests while enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
  • Generate opportunities through existing and new customer relationships, lead-generation efforts, and participation in marketing events.

Commercial Leadership

  • Negotiate profitable and mutually beneficial pricing, terms, contracts, and commercial agreements.
  • Manage commercial activities including NDAs, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, Evaluation Agreements, PA/CPA agreements, forecasts, purchase orders, lead times, and commercial escalations.
  • Correctly interpret customer requirements and align them with Rigaku's current and future products and services.
  • Oversee revenue forecasting and opportunity management to support business objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams in the development of winning proposals and customer solutions.
  • Create and communicate a consistent account strategy across customer sites and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment across all account locations to present a unified voice to customers.
  • Provide customer insights and recommendations to sales and marketing organizations.
  • Support continuous improvement through business metrics, corrective actions, preventive actions, and process enhancements.

Qualifications


Education

  • Master's degree or PhD preferred in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in capital equipment field applications, marketing, account management, or business development within the semiconductor industry.
  • Semiconductor X-ray and related metrology experience required.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing strategic accounts.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Applications, Service, Product Management, and Customer Procurement.
  • Experience closing complex, solution-oriented opportunities.
  • Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions, identifying and mitigating risk, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated consultative selling and business development skills, with the ability to align customer needs with solutions that drive sales growth and successful outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required to meet business needs.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Salesforce for managing customer information, opportunity pipelines, and account forecasting.
  • Experience using CRM platforms, presentation tools, and other sales enablement tools.

Work Environment

This role requires approximately 20-30% domestic and international travel to customer sites, including semiconductor manufacturing, industrial, and other customer locations. Travel may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions such as noise, dust, heat, and outdoor weather. When not traveling, the position includes time spent in a professional office environment focused on customer engagement, account planning, forecasting, and business development activities. Flexibility and adaptability to diverse work environments are essential for success in this role.
