CCI Industrial Services is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Safety Specialist supporting Lower 48.


CCI Industrial Services provides quality-driven, cost-effective construction, maintenance, industrial cleaning, power generation, and transportation services to support resource development companies in Alaska and the lower 48 states. Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Inspect and evaluate the work area in accordance with plans, specifications, and contract documents, reporting deficiencies as appropriate and elevating issues as needed to ensure safe work practices and quality outcomes
  • Implement and maintain company and job specific safety programs.
  • Perform routine job site safety inspections and work with field supervision to ensure safe job sites and working conditions. Report if corrective actions are required
  • Responsible for being involved with investigations and communications with Management.
  • Facilitate client risk assessment processes for company projects.
  • Be a Safety Leader! Ensure the resources and commitment to HSE is of top priority for all employees within the company.
  • Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
    • Maintain compliance with the required HSE Training.
    • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
    • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
    • Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives.
    • Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
    • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
    • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
    • Promote and participate in Safety Programs.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of power plant safety programs, OSHA regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Knowledge of industrial hazards associated with boilers, turbines, generators, electrical systems, coal handling, rotating equipment, chemicals, pressure systems, and heavy machinery.
  • Knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA/JSA), risk assessment, pre-job briefings, and safe-work practices.
  • Knowledge of confined-space entry, hot work, fall protection, electrical safety, respiratory protection, PPE, and excavation safety.
  • Strong hazard identification and risk-assessment skills.
  • Ability to investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and property damage.
  • Ability to conduct safety training, toolbox talks, orientation sessions, and safety meetings.
  • Strong written documentation and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to identify hazards and determine appropriate controls before and during work activities.
  • Ability to stop or suspend work when an imminent or unacceptable safety risk is identified.
  • Ability to analyze safety trends and recommend preventive and corrective measures.
Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of progressive industrial safety experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive safety experience in power generation, utilities, heavy industry, manufacturing, refinery, petrochemical, or construction
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Advanced experience with incident and near-miss investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action management.

 

Work Environment:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.  This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

  • MOBILITY: While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses computers on a daily basis.  He/she is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. May require light physical effort such as stooping, bending, reaching and occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 pounds).
  • HEARING: The employee frequently is required to talk or hear while answering phones, working with customers, clients, supervisors, etc.
  • VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner. Ability to see and complete work on a personal computer and read color coded writing on equipment forms, etc.
