What You Will Be Doing

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing company-wide occupational health and safety programs, will ensure that the organization complies with all regulatory requirements and provide guidance on safety issues. Must be conversationally fluent in English and Spanish. 

Essential Job Functions

  •  Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to comply with applicable regulations and standards. 
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections and provide recommendations for improvement. 
  • Create training programs for employees on safe work practices, handling hazardous materials, and emergency response procedures. 
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and provide recommendations to prevent their recurrence. 
  • Collaborate with management to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the workplace. 
  • Provide support to site and departmental safety committees to ensure effective communication and implementation of safety policies. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in occupational health and safety general industry standards and regulations. 
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections and provide recommendations for improvement. 
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and provide recommendations to prevent their recurrence. 
  • Collaborate with management to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the workplace. 
  • Provide support to site and departmental safety committees to ensure effective communication and implementation of safety policies. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. 
  • Ability to work well on a team; contribute and participate in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs. 
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Verifiable continuous job experience on specific field.

Physical Requirements

Fieldwork environment. Maybe required to work outside of normal business hours as per company needs, May be exposed to hazardous materials and environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
