Position Summary

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all safety, health, and environmental regulations are strictly followed on the construction site. This role will implement, monitor, and improve safety procedures to prevent accidents, protect workers, and ensure compliance with local laws and company policies.



Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plans.

  • Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards and ensure safe work practices.

  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to all workers and contractors.

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with Papua New Guinea workplace safety legislation and project safety requirements.

  • Maintain accurate safety records, including incident registers, inspection reports, and PPE inventories.

  • Work closely with supervisors and managers to promote a strong safety culture on-site.

  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of PPE.

  • Coordinate emergency drills and ensure readiness for potential site emergencies.



RequirementsRequired Qualifications & Skills
  • Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a safety role within the construction or mining sector.

  • Sound knowledge of PNG safety laws, standards, and procedures.

  • Strong communication, observation, and reporting skills.

  • Ability to influence and encourage safe behaviour in the workplace.

  • Physically fit and able to work in a site-based environment.

Skills Required
