We are looking for a hands-on Safety Engineer to help drive safety efforts across our multiple facilities.
Key Job Elements
- Ensures the availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing/devices, and first aid supplies
- Recommends and follows up to verify the implementation of corrective actions regarding safety
- Manage and support the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, including project coordination, procedure development, and compliance oversight to protect employees working on energized equipment.
- Maintains records on safety inspections and inventory of safety & fire equipment and devices
- Oversees the storage, use, and recording of all hazardous materials
- Maintains and audits SDS
- Follows procedures to monitor health and safety at designated locations such as ergonomics, air quality, and waste disposal
- Lead and support machine guarding projects, including hazard identification, solution coordination, and verification of compliance with safety standards
- Knows, applies, and documents state, OSHA General Industry, and federal regulations in order to identify problems and find solutions
- Manage safe work procedures and trains personnel
- Develops and disseminates manuals and documentation around health and safety
- Plan, organize, and lead quarterly safety meetings to review performance, communicate expectations, address trends
- Conduct and maintain Job Safety Analysis to identify task specific hazards and define and define safe work practices for operational roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering & 2 – 5 years of experience, preferably in an industrial setting
- Strong understanding of OSHA General Industry standards
- Identifies complex issues and is solution based, elevating as necessary
- Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
- Ability to travel between sites in the San Antonio area
- Familiarity with lithium battery safety, handling, and risk mitigation practices preferred
- Understanding of safety considerations in metal fabrication environments preferred
- Knowledge of overhead crane operations and related safety standards preferred
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours based on company needs
- Must be able to perform physical requirements of job including but not limited to sitting and/or standing through duration of shift, lifting up to 50 lbs., and climbing of ladders

Skills Required
