As a product minded backend or fullstack software engineer on the Working Capital team at Settle, you will develop Settle's core lending software and workflows from customer interactions to underwriting to onboarding to ledgers and interest accrual to interfaces with bank partners. This team enables brands to access working capital to grow their business. You'll play a vital role in designing and building high-impact, results-oriented systems, products, and features. With strong product-market fit, organic growth, and a robust long-term roadmap, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team driving Settle's ongoing success.
We are seeking engineers with a product-focused mindset to elevate our business to new heights. The ideal candidate excels in execution, thinks ahead, and can design durable foundational systems. They are adept at steering clear of scope creep while delivering incremental value. We want someone who is iterative in their approach, moves with agility, and places the customer at the forefront of their decision-making process.
What you'll do:- Design and build customer-facing features for lending that help small businesses apply for and access lending.
- Collaborate with Product and Design teams to ensure features and systems are intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with customer needs.
- Continuously improve engineering processes and coding best practices.
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally within a customer-facing role or product-driven environment.
- Proficiency in backend design and development, with the ability to articulate trade-offs between technical decisions and how they impact business outcomes
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, with strong foundations in OOP and familiarity with ORM frameworks.
- Experience in relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL
- Prior fintech and/or lending experience would be great but is not required for the role
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers in defining and delivering features.
- Strong understanding of product engineering with a focus on how your work impacts the end user.
This role has an annual starting salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 + equity + benefits. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to your individual skills and experience.
