The mission of 120ft Factory is to start the new western industrial revolution. We are building the essential infrastructure to close the "Physical AI Deployment Gap." Our core thesis is that making agentic AI work at scale is an architectural challenge of feedback and deterministic enforcement.
DescriptionAs the Systems Engineer for Skills & Orchestration, you are the custodian of the system's reliability. While developers build skills and agentic models generate plans, your mission is to define what a "skill" actually is and what it contractually promises to the rest of the system. You will build the deterministic supervisory layer, the "ECU" to the AI's combustion engine, that bounds stochastic agent behavior within strict safety-state projections. You are responsible for ensuring that our system does what it promises, reproducibly, at Scale. This requires horizontal system thinking and vertical deepdives down to the execution layer.
ResponsibilitiesOwn the Skills Supervisor Orchestration layer of the 120ft functional stack, defining task sequencing, skill ontologies, and behavior trees.
Design and enforce the cross-cutting Architectural Contracts from the infrastructure layer up to the human-robot interface.
Implement the Capability Admission Pipeline, ensuring every new cell configuration passes 6 strict structural gates (Hazards, Safety-state projection, Mode structure, Envelopes, Enforcement, Runtime admission) before deployment.
Build the deterministic supervisory shell that measures observable outputs against business constraints and handles fault recovery and escalation.
Collaborate closely with VLA Engineers and Simulation Engineers to orchestrate heterogeneous hardware and ensure agentic capabilities map safely to the reality of atoms.
Design and maintain shopfloor dashboards and DfM workflows that translate layout and task assumptions into executable processes.
Master’s degree or equivalent in work experience in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related complex architectural field.
Deep understanding of control theory, state machines, behavior trees and feedback loops as applied to complex or highly stochastic systems.
Proven history of systems-level thinking, previously mapping cross-layer functional requirements (e.g., OSI model applications) to physical and software architectures.
Experience defining strict operational envelopes, telemetry pipelines, and safety instrumented systems.
You view system design through the lens of 'connection' and architectural contracts rather than just component integration.
You have the pragmatism to understand that agentic AI requires a conservative projection of system state to be safely deployed in high-mix manufacturing.
You can effortlessly bridge the gap between high-level operational abstractions (MES/ERP) and low-level robotics primitives.
You are a structured thinker who can communicate complex architectural tradeoffs clearly and build robust deployment pipelines.
We offer a top-tier Stockholm salary combined with early-stage equity grant as part of the founding engineering team. Relocation support and EU Blue Card sponsorship provided.

What We Do
120ft Factory is a Swedish manufacturing startup developing autonomous local micro-factories powered by Physical AI. Its Factory-as-a-Service approach uses containerised production cells and humanoid robots for flexible, high-mix, low-volume assembly. The company is building Factory OS and robotic systems to help manufacturing SMEs automate complex assembly, bring production closer to customers, and reduce dependence on rigid global supply chains through locally operated production facilities.
