Visualize, debug, and manage multimodal data in one purpose-built platform for robotics and embodied AI development.
The Role
As a Developer Relations Engineer, you'll create technical content, engage with developers, represent Foxglove at events, and contribute to open source projects.
Summary Generated by Built In

Robotics will have a massive positive impact on the world economy and global human productivity over the coming decade. At Foxglove, we're excited for this future, and we're building powerful open source and commercial tools to accelerate it.

We're an experienced team of independent thinkers, with a passion for creating high quality products. We're looking for self-motivated and fast-learning individuals to join our mission.

About the role

As a Developer Relations Engineer, you’ll be Foxglove’s technical storyteller and community builder. You’ll create engaging technical content — from explanation videos and tutorials to live demos and event talks — that help roboticists and developers get the most out of Foxglove.

You’ll represent Foxglove at conferences, online communities, and meetups, serving as the voice of our developer audience internally. You’ll combine creativity, empathy, and technical depth to inspire adoption, gather feedback, and foster collaboration across the robotics ecosystem.

Location

Foxglove is a remote-friendly company, with employees spread across many locations. We maintain Pacific Time hours and hire within ±4 hours of U.S. time zones to ensure effective collaboration.

For this role, we ideally looking for someone to work onsite from our office in San Francisco, since there will be significant robot hardware interactions.

What you'll do
  • Build real-world examples and reference projects that demonstrate how developers and robotics teams can use Foxglove across Physical AI and robotics workflows.

  • Use those projects as the foundation for educational content — creating world-class blogs, tutorials, videos, and live demos that help developers understand, adopt, and succeed with Foxglove’s platform.

  • Grow, support, and engage directly with the developer community across Slack, Discord, GitHub, Reddit, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn — answering questions, joining discussions, and amplifying user projects and feedback.

  • Livestream and share stories from robotics events, hackathons, and meetups to celebrate innovation and showcase how Foxglove enables cutting-edge work in Physical AI.

  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to surface community insights, identify developer pain points, and help guide roadmap priorities — occasionally contributing fixes or improvements directly to the product or documentation.

  • Contribute to open-source projects and build trust through authentic technical contributions, ensuring developers have working, well-documented examples they can learn from and build upon.

  • Champion developer experience internally, ensuring documentation, onboarding, and APIs are clear, consistent, and delightful for users.

  • Experiment with new formats and channels — from short-form video and podcasts to interactive demos and technical blog series — to reach developers in creative, impactful ways.

  • Reduce engineering support by proactively maintaining content, examples, and educational resources that help developers learn and troubleshoot independently.

  • Represent Foxglove publicly at events and conferences — speaking, demoing, and connecting with developers, researchers, and partners across the robotics and AI ecosystem.

What we're looking for
  • Technical fluency: 5+ years of experience as a software engineer or developer advocate working in developer tools, robotics, and open source ecosystems.

  • Strong engineering foundation: Skilled in Python, C++, and or Rust; comfortable working across MLOps and robotics infrastructure.

  • Broad understanding of robotics and ML systems: Familiar with ROS, simulation, 3D geometry, and data pipelines — able to communicate effectively with engineers, researchers, and practitioners in these fields.

  • Exceptional communicator: Able to explain complex technical topics clearly through writing, video, and live presentations, adapting tone and depth to fit different audiences.

  • Creative content producer: Experienced in creating blogs, tutorials, demos, YouTube videos, or livestreams that inspire and educate developers.

  • Community builder: Passionate about engaging with developers and nurturing authentic relationships — active where they are (GitHub, Discord, Reddit, LinkedIn, X/Twitter).

  • Analytical and data-informed: Comfortable using analytics to measure engagement, track reach, and iterate on community strategy.

  • Collaborative partner: Works seamlessly with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to amplify impact, share insights, and close the loop between users and the product team.

  • Storyteller with technical credibility: You bring both engineering depth and creativity — turning real-world robotics and AI challenges into approachable, inspiring stories.

  • Track record of public contribution: You’ve shipped cool projects or educational content — whether through open source, blogs, or talks — that demonstrate your expertise and passion for developer communities.

  • Event and community program experience (bonus): Prior involvement in organizing technical events, hackathons, or workshops is a plus.

  • Ownership mindset: You thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative environment and take initiative — viewing community success as shared success.

  • Curious and helpful by nature: You enjoy solving problems, learning continuously, and helping others do the same.

What We Offer
  • $300 monthly budget towards commuter benefits or building your personal workspace (remote only)

  • Competitive equity grant in a Series B company

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Term Life insurance coverage at 100% for employees and 75% for dependents

  • 401(k) matching up to 4%

  • 4 weeks vacation, plus holidays and winter break

  • All expenses paid company off-sites 2× per year

Why Join Us
  • Impact: Own growth at a fast-growing, high-leverage moment for the company.

  • Mission: Accelerate the development of the next generation of robotics and embodied AI.

  • Team: Work with world-class engineers, designers, and researchers passionate about open-source and developer tools.

  • Ownership: Drive initiatives end-to-end, with high autonomy and visibility.
