Job Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Robot Optimization Specialist will provide technical robotic expertise and support to all applicable personnel of the division. This position is responsible for troubleshooting robotic systems, and driving robotic improvements through coaching, cycle time, programming, and equipment optimization. The position will support production, maintenance, engineering, and management to optimize line capability, throughput, maximize equipment life, and minimize downtime.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Able to read, write, and create OLP programs through Robo-guide, notepad+, ETC.
  • Experienced in spot welding, MIG welding, material handling, dispensing, and vision applications.
  • Ability to create, modify, and troubleshoot robotic frames.
  • Experience with line debug (AUTO). Ability to setup/troubleshoot PLC to robot communications, zoning, IO handshakes.
  • Ability to reduce cycle time through process changes or program optimization.
  • Able to map different equipment I/O.
  • Able to create macro programs, setup macros, and implement fault recovery within.
  • Ability to take all types of robot backups for the customer, as well as internal change documentation.
  • Ability to document and report changes or improvements made to the automation lines and robots.
  • Able to analyze and troubleshoot different welding failures (MIG, SPOT, ETC.)
  • Able to integrate robot additions to new or existing cells.
  • Familiarity with electrical, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Certified in Fanuc DCS.
  • Ability to perform electrical diagnosis and repair as needed.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Able to appreciate and maintain proper level of confidentiality, using discretion and tact.
  • Familiarity with Engineering and Quality practices and procedures including PPAP, blueprint reading, GD&T, use of measuring instruments, checking aids/fixtures, mechanical testing, etc.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment to meet customer requirements.


CORE DUTIES:

  • Provide technical robot expertise to division personnel to support new and existing customer programs.
  • Coach fellow personnel through programming and maintenance activities as well as production.
  • Evaluate the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems, reprogramming or calibrating to achieve maximum quantity and quality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation resulting in shared knowledge of issues, improvements, and lessons learned.
  • Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components.
  • Troubleshoot and train others on identifying root causes of equipment failures.
  • Find, present, and implement process changes on the production floor to maximize line capability.
  • Perform cycle time studies.
  • Execute equipment efficiency studies, through time and motion studies, or standard data to ensure effective line balancing.
  • Optimize robot/station cycle time.
  • Utilize good working knowledge of all technologies used in the development and build of automated assembly lines. Execute equipment efficiency studies, through time and motion studies, or standard data to ensure effective line balancing.
  • Work to achieve Company goals, objectives as communicated by divisional leadership.
  • Complies with, supports and models CBAM's operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna's Employee's Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles.
  • Complies with relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental programs (e.g. ISO 9001/IATF 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA. Follows and ensures Company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Keeps work area clean and tidy.
  • Other duties as required.
