About the team + role

The Fraud Investigation team’s mission is to ensure Robinhood customers have swift identification and resolution of fraud-related issues. We do this by interacting with customers when their accounts encounter fraud, placing temporary restrictions on accounts if needed, investigating customer-surfaced and RH-identified fraud, communicating in a timely manner, and efficiently restoring accounts to their pre-fraud status. We train and employ skilled and knowledgeable investigators, deliver consistent and high-quality support, and minimize impact from fraud losses to protect our customers and our company's financial health.

As a Fraud Operations Intern, you will conduct an end-to-end fraud investigation of accounts that have any concerns of fraud, with the ultimate goal of protecting our customers and minimizing fraud exposures to the firm.

What you’ll do

• Review and investigate suspected fraudulent alerts that are proactive and reactive in nature, using multiple internal and external tools

• Use data analysis techniques, critical thinking, and pattern detection to discover proactive ways to identify emerging fraud

• Recognize and actively communicate emerging fraud trends and detection methodologies

• Document the rationale and determination for each alert and submit referrals to other teams within RH where necessary

• Assist the team with coordination and prioritization of various ongoing daily tasks, queue management, and other ad-hoc requests

What you bring

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program in Business, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Psychology or a related field with an expected graduation date in Winter 2025/Spring 2026

• Interest in fraud investigations end-to-end process and various fraud typologies such as Account Takeovers, Identity Theft and Money Movement Fraud among others

• Proactively identify problems and devise solutions (think outside-the-box) and independently make decisions on potentially fraudulent cases

• Ability to operate in a fast paced environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams

• Good written and verbal communication, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail
