Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Team Leadership: Assist in growing and leading a high performing roadway/highway design team consisting of engineers and technicians. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior-level engineers and other team members to aid in their professional development. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment among the team.
- Project Management: Serve as a project manager for roadway/highway design projects, overseeing and participating in project execution from initiation to completion. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
- Project Delivery & Quality: Perform quality checks on work performed by project team members. Provide leadership in the planning, design, and execution of major projects. Prepare project documents, design, conduct analyses, interpret data, and plan and coordinate the engineering work to ensure timely and successful project delivery. Review and approve project deliverables, including drawings and specifications. Serve as a technical expert in roadway design engineering. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement measures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of work.
- Client Relationship Management: Establish and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of service, communication, and client satisfaction. Collaborate with senior management on strategic planning and assists with business development. Prepare proposals and/or funding applications.

Qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Roadway/Highway design engineering
- Experience working on KYTC projects
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Experience with project management and accounting software
- Exceptional organization skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team
