Responsibilities:
As an RN in the ICU, you should demonstrate exceptional social skills to foster patient comfort and genuine connections. Responsibilities include:
Patient Monitoring: Continuously assess and monitor patients’ vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition.
Medication Administration: Deliver medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV therapy and sedation.
Emergency Response: Act swiftly in life-saving situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, or shock.
Diagnostic Support: Assist with and interpret diagnostic tests like blood work, imaging, and EKGs.
Medical Equipment Operation: Manage ventilators, infusion pumps, and other critical care devices.
Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes.
Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
Family Support: Provide emotional support and education to patients’ families about conditions and treatments.
Infection Control: Follow strict protocols to prevent the spread of infection in the ICU environment.
Qualifications:
• Associate Degree in Nursing
• State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
• BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
• 1 year of Telemetry and RN experience highly Preferred
