As a Clinical Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting clinical excellence across hospice and home health services by developing, implementing, and evaluating education and competency programs that promote quality care, regulatory compliance, and professional growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs, competency assessments, and ongoing staff development initiatives in accordance with CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs), ACHC standards, organizational policies, and evidence-based practices.
- Serve as the clinical subject matter expert, maintaining proficiency in current and emerging clinical skills, processes, and best practices.
- Orient, mentor, and support new clinical staff, including nurses, therapists, social workers, therapy assistants, preceptors, and clinical managers.
- Create engaging learning experiences through classroom instruction, virtual learning environments, written materials, and innovative educational technologies.
- Develop and maintain clinical procedure guides, technology resources, and EMR training materials.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of staff training, competency assessments, and educational records to meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Design disease-specific competency validation tools and skills-based assessments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify learning opportunities, address knowledge gaps, and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor staff performance and competency, providing coaching, feedback, and remediation when appropriate.
- Support patient safety, infection prevention, and risk management initiatives through evidence-based education.
- Participate in the development, review, and revision of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Assist with internal and external audits, surveys, and accreditation activities related to education and compliance.
- Ensure all educational programs remain aligned with federal, state, and local regulations, Medicare and Medicaid requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Stay informed of regulatory changes and integrate updates into training programs to support quality care, compliance, and patient safety.
- May assume additional responsibilities under the role of Hospice CNA Clinical Manager, including supervision of the CNA Administrative Manager and oversight of Hospice and Home Health CNA teams.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program required
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience in hospice, home health, or a related healthcare setting
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education, staff development, training, mentoring, or competency validation
- Experience supporting regulatory compliance initiatives, quality improvement programs, and accreditation standards preferred
- Proven ability to develop and deliver educational programs for interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, and therapy assistants
- Strong understanding of hospice and palliative care principles, symptom management, patient care standards, and evidence-based clinical practices
- Working knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs), ACHC standards, state and federal healthcare regulations, and accreditation requirements
- Excellent communication, presentation, coaching, and leadership skills
- Ability to foster a culture of continuous learning, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care

Skills Required
