As a Risk Manager, you will play a central role in safeguarding and shaping our risk framework as a derivatives market maker. From day one, you’ll be given meaningful responsibility in helping to decide on trading limits, refining our policies, and ensuring alignment between our risk appetite and our control framework.
Your daily work combines hands-on risk monitoring with longer-term projects to continuously improve how we manage market, credit, and operational risks. You will work closely with trading teams on the trading floor, acting as a sparring partner to evaluate risk-reward trade-offs, optimize capital allocation, and support the deployment of new quantitative and algorithmic trading strategies. Initially focused on market risk, the role will gradually encompass operational risk management, providing broader exposure to the firm’s risk framework.
Beyond day-to-day oversight, you will contribute to strategic initiatives, such as enhancing our limits framework, streamlining risk processes, and ensuring regulatory capital and clearing requirements are met. To succeed, you’ll need to stay ahead of market developments, communicate insights effectively, and bring an innovative mindset to making our risk management practices more robust, efficient, and effective.
This is a high-impact role where your decisions directly shape both our risk profile and our ability to capture trading opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily market risk reporting of our equity derivatives business, engaging directly with traders, clearing banks, trading venues and regulators;
- Monitor and investigate risk concentrations, clearing bank requirements, operational incidents, unusual trades and market moves, linking insights to current exposures;
- Operate and improve our market and operational risk frameworks, with a strong focus on automated trading strategies and effective incident follow-up;
- Design, improve, and operate our market risk frameworks and automated monitoring tools in Python;
- Assess and sign off on new trading strategies and algorithms;
- Further develop the risk-control framework, incl. policies, with a strong focus on trading and technology;
- Advise on capital requirements and provide input to optimize capital and liquidity allocation and usage of trading strategies.
Key Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as STEM, Statistics, Econometrics, or Finance;
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills;
- Ability to write clean and efficient code in Python;
- Solid understanding of securities and derivatives trading;
- Able to both design and implement aspects of risk management frameworks;
- Independent thinker, with convincing communication skills in English;
- Result-oriented with attention to detail and focus on quality of work;
- Mindset geared towards continuous improvement and innovation;
- Collaborative team player, able to contribute in fast-paced trading environment;
- Prior experience in a trading firm is a plus.
