POSITION SUMMARY:
The Risk Management Specialist supports Talos’s enterprise risk management, insurance, and surety programs in partnership with the Risk Manager, Treasury, brokers, and internal and external stakeholders. The role serves as a resource to business units on insurance and surety matters, while supporting renewals, claims, reporting, due diligence, and related financial and strategic projects.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Insurance & Risk Management
- Support corporate insurance programs, including property, casualty, liability, cyber, D&O, workers’ compensation, and specialty coverages.
- Support annual renewals by gathering exposure data, preparing submissions, coordinating with brokers and insurers, and evaluating structure, pricing, market conditions, and risks.
- Maintain policy, certificate, endorsement, schedule, claims, and coverage records; monitor key terms, limits, deductibles, exclusions, and requirements.
- Support claims management with brokers, insurers, adjusters, and internal business units.
- Assist with insurance policies, procedures, controls, and due diligence for transactions, projects, contracts, and strategic initiatives.
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
- Support the Company’s ERM framework, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, reporting, and related governance activities.
- Partner with business functions to define risk appetite, evaluate mitigation strategies, strengthen controls, and support risk reporting to management and other stakeholders.
Surety Program
- Support management of the Company’s surety program, including bonds, letters of credit, collateral requirements, capacity planning, renewals, and related financial assurance obligations.
- Coordinate with surety brokers, underwriters, governmental institutions, and internal stakeholders regarding bonding requirements, capacity, documentation, and approvals.
- Maintain accurate records of outstanding bonds, collateral, obligations, and related financial assurance requirements.
- Assist with surety-related due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, projects, contracts, and strategic initiatives.
Business Unit, Broker & External Partner Support
- Advise business units on insurance, indemnification, financial assurance, certificates, contractual requirements, and risk-transfer matters.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, Treasury, Operations, Procurement, Accounting, and other functions on risk-related initiatives.
- Build productive relationships with brokers, carriers, underwriters, and external advisors.
- Coordinate meetings, information requests, renewals, program reviews, proposals, recommendations, and partner communications.
Financial & Strategic Analysis
- Support the Treasurer and Treasury organization on special projects, financial analyses, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze insurance premiums, claims, deductibles, loss information, surety costs, collateral requirements, and other financial data to support business decisions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant professional experience in risk management, insurance, finance, Treasury, accounting, or a related discipline, preferably in the oil and gas industry.

- Reliable, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities, detailed procedures, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience collaborating across operating groups and external partners.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with insurance and surety brokers, underwriters, and internal stakeholders.
- Analytical, project-oriented problem solver with strong judgment, integrity, and commitment to professional development.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
