The Risk & Fraud Specialist I supports fraud monitoring, case review, and response activities. This role serves as the primary owner of daily fraud queues, alert reviews, reports, and referrals to identify suspicious activity and escalate cases appropriately. Additionally, this role tracks fraud incidents, documentation, customer impact, recovery status, and trends, preparing clear summaries and case details for management review. As a frontline resource for associates reporting suspected fraud, this position gathers documentation, supports investigation and recovery efforts, and helps strengthen fraud awareness by identifying recurring issues and recommending practical process improvements.

This position also provides valuable support to broader risk and security functions, including physical security administration, access/badge activities, appraisal process tracking, and departmental projects. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment where accuracy and follow‑through matter.

Qualifications 

  • Associate degree in a related field or 2–4 years of experience in banking, fraud, operations, customer/account research, risk, or a similar area
  • Foundational understanding of fraud monitoring, transaction review, documentation, and banking operations, with the ability to learn department systems and procedures
  • Strong procedural accuracy with the ability to follow established processes, maintain thorough records, identify exceptions, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, when working with associates and internal partners
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, teamwork, reliability, and initiative
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and seeking guidance when appropriate
  • Commitment to following Bank policies, procedures, and department standards
  • Ability to always exhibit NBC core values: Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Accountability
Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, contingent on relevant skills, training, experience, education and other job-related factors permitted by law.
