Do work that matters:

As a Risk & Controls Manager, you will report to the Senior Manager and partner with a range of business teams to provide risk and control advisory support. You will work closely with stakeholders to embed effective risk management practices, strengthen control environments, and support the successful delivery of business objectives and change initiatives.

The role spans a diverse portfolio of teams focused on customer outcomes, business performance, operational excellence and strategic initiatives. You will help ensure risks are effectively identified, assessed and managed, while providing guidance on governance, oversight and compliance obligations to support informed decision-making and sustainable business outcomes.

About our Career Comeback Program:

This exciting opportunity is part of our Career Comeback Program. Stepping back into your career after a break can feel daunting – that’s exactly what our Career Comeback Program is designed for. It’s a structured, supported pathway for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after an extended career break, offering wrap-around support to help you rebuild confidence, refresh skills and set yourself up to thrive from day one.

As part of the Program, you can expect:

  • Paid 12-week support Program starting in October, with employment on a permanent contract extending post-program.

  • A structured induction and re-onboarding experience to help you settle in quickly.

  • Personalised career coaching and mentoring for confidence, clarity and momentum.

  • Professional development workshops designed to support your transition back to work.

  • A dedicated Program Manager and support network (e.g. buddy/alumni connection) to guide you throughout the program.

  • Hybrid working options, where you’ll spend at least half of your working time each month in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remainder.

If you’re an experienced Risk and Controls Manager who’s taken a career break of two years or more, this is your opportunity to return to meaningful work with the structure, support and flexibility to help you thrive. You can read more about our Career Comeback Program here.

On any given day you will:

  • Provide trusted risk and control advice to stakeholders, helping embed effective risk management practices across the business.

  • Manage risk assessments, controls, incidents and governance activities, identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and improve outcomes.

  • Partner with business and risk teams to support change initiatives, regulatory compliance and informed decision-making.

  • Foster a strong risk culture through collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

We are interested in people who have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in banking, financial services or a related industry, with demonstrated knowledge of operational risk management or transferable risk management experience.

  • The ability to find solutions that balance the needs of various stakeholder groups.

  • Strong attention to detail, organisational, planning, time management and project management skills.

  • Experience in process improvements, driving actions and delivering measured benefits.

  • Ability to think critically, analytically and strategically.

  • Ability to engage with and influence a large and varied stakeholder group.

If you’re currently on a career break and have operational risk experience, we’d love to hear from you – even if you don’t meet every requirement listed above. We value the skills and experience you’ve gained throughout your career, and if this role isn’t the right fit, we’ll consider you for other suitable opportunities where possible.
