1. Role Summary
The Researcher, Insights & Analyst is responsible for end-to-end research delivery supporting consulting engagements, strategy projects, thought-leadership outputs, and client advisory work. The role combines research design, data acquisition, analytics, insight generation, and evidence-based storytelling. The Researcher, Insights & Analyst translates complex data into decision-ready intelligence for executives, partners, and stakeholders.
2. Reporting Line
Reports to: Director – Strategy
Works closely with: Consultants, Data Analysts, Communications Team, Project Managers, and Clients.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Research Strategy & Design
Define research problems, hypotheses, frameworks, and methodologies aligned to project objectives.
Develop research protocols, sampling strategies, and measurement tools.
Design qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method studies.
Conduct literature scans, benchmarking, and landscape analyses.
Prepare research workplans, budgets, and timelines.
Ensure compliance with ethical standards, data protection laws, and professional research guidelines.
B. Data Acquisition & Management
Accurate primary and secondary data collection using digital and field methods.
Deploy surveys, interviews, KIIs, FGDs, digital scraping, and database mining where appropriate.
Manage enumerators and research assistants when applicable.
Clean, structure, validate, and document datasets.
Maintain secure storage and version control of research assets.
C. Data Analysis & Insight Generation
Perform statistical analysis, modelling, trend analysis, and comparative assessment.
Conduct qualitative coding, thematic synthesis, and narrative analysis.
Integrate multiple data streams to produce synthesised insights.
Identify risks, patterns, opportunities, and strategic implications.
Translate findings into decision-grade recommendations.
D. Reporting & Knowledge Translation
Produce executive reports, policy briefs, technical papers, and presentations.
Convert data into dashboards, charts, and visual storytelling outputs.
Present findings to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
Support publication of thought-leadership and research reports.
Maintain documentation of methodologies and research outputs for institutional knowledge.
E. Collaboration & Innovation
Support proposal development with evidence and data inputs.
Contribute to research frameworks and intellectual property assets.
Recommend new tools, technologies, and methods to improve research efficiency.
Participate in cross-functional project teams.
Mentor junior researchers or field teams when assigned.
4. Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Policy, Business Analytics, or related field.
Minimum 3 years’ professional research experience (Consulting, Research Firm, Think Tank, NGO, Academic, or Analytics Environment).
Demonstrated proficiency in qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Advanced writing and presentation skills.
Technical Competencies
Data tools: Excel, SPSS, R, Stata, Python or equivalent.
Qualitative tools: NVivo, Atlas.ti or similar.
Visualisation tools: Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio.
Familiarity with survey platforms and digital data-collection tools.
Preferred
Master’s degree or specialised research certification.
Experience managing field research teams.
Experience producing client-facing research deliverables.
