Role Overview
As a Research Scientist at SAGEA, you will focus on advancing the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of reasoning-driven AI systems. This role emphasizes conceptual depth, experimental design, and original research that informs how models are built, trained, and evaluated.
You will work closely with research engineers to translate research ideas into experiments and prototypes, contributing to SAGEA’s long-term research direction while maintaining a clear connection to practical systems.
What You Will Do
Develop and explore new algorithms, architectures, and training approaches for reasoning-focused models
Formulate research questions and design experiments to test hypotheses
Conduct ablation studies, evaluations, and theoretical analysis
Collaborate with research engineers to implement and validate research ideas
Write internal research documents and, where appropriate, external publications
Track and synthesize relevant research across language, multimodal, and reasoning systems
Contribute to SAGEA’s research roadmap and long-term technical strategy
What We Are Looking For
Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, or related fields
Experience conducting independent research and designing experiments
Ability to reason abstractly and communicate complex ideas clearly
Familiarity with modern model architectures and training paradigms
Comfort working in open-ended research environments
Nice to Have
Prior publications or research experience in ML or AI
Experience with language models, reasoning systems, or multimodal learning
Strong mathematical foundations (linear algebra, probability, optimization)
Experience collaborating across research and engineering teams
