You will become part of our Bioenergy Technical Service team, collaborating closely with our colleagues in Technical Services to provide world class technical support and innovative solutions to our team and customers in Bioenergy space.
As Research Associate you’ll make an impact by:
- Responsible for planning and execution of own work in accordance with guidelines from Technical Service team and communication of the results.
- Ability to work independently on the task assigned, conduct experiments & evaluate trial data, infer on the outcome, plan for further alternate steps/ actions, provide insights to share with Technical Service team.
- Carry out own experimental work involving established methods to meet specific team/project goals.
- Ensure the laboratory and equipment are operated according to the recommended procedures and safety protocols.
- Candidate will be challenged with the scientific complexity of the project, involving interaction with cross-functional teams.
- Responsible to identify, evaluate, develop, and standardize various analytical methods along with data validation and documentation of the method as per QMS standards.
- Ensure that the ingredients, chemicals, laboratory consumables and enzyme samples are used according to the identified procedures.
- Preparation of testing material, testing chemicals and reagents according to the prescribed procedures.
- Understand and help to address customer concerns concerning analytical methodologies.
- Represent Novonesis towards customers and other stakeholders on technical and/or project issues and/or trainings.
To succeed you must hold:
- Scientific skills based on a university degree in Chemistry, Chemical / Biotech / Bioprocess Engineering or related.
- Relevant knowledge of lab scale fermentation protocols. Experience within enzyme and yeast applications in Bioenergy would be a plus.
- Proficiency in instrumentation, including method development, sample analysis, data interpretation and troubleshooting in chromatographic methods like HPLC, GC, Spectrophotometer and Colourimeters.
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE) with relevant capabilities in statistics and data analysis.
- Background in analytical chemistry and/or biochemistry with relevant exposure to AOAC, IUPAC methods for analysis would be a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A flair for providing technical training – internally as well as externally.
- Collaborative and a good team player.
- Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese and English.
