Position Overview:
We're looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in a laboratory setting. As a key member of our R&D team, the candidate will be responsible for assisting in the identification and validation of novel targets for therapeutic development. This individual will focus on implementing a range of cellular and molecular biology techniques and executing experiments following a research plan. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an excellent growing team of scientists working in the development of novel RNA therapeutics.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Cell Culture: Perform routine maintenance of mammalian and bacterial cell cultures, including initiation, propagation, and cryopreservation.
· Media and Buffer Preparation: Prepare media, buffers, and other reagents necessary for cell culture and experimental procedures.
· Project Support: Prepare cells to support multiple concurrent projects, requiring flexible work hours and collaboration with other scientists. Execute experiments following a research plan and work with tight timelines.
· Laboratory Protocols: Conduct basic laboratory protocols, including calculations and data analysis. Perform experiments using multiple instruments including, but not limited to, measure RNA quality and gene expression.
· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and reliable records, including database management, batch records, notebooks, and relevant documentation.
· Sterile Preparation: Sterilize and prepare laboratory glassware, tools, and reagents.
· General Laboratory Tasks: Perform general laboratory maintenance tasks, including equipment upkeep.
· Standard Operating Procedures: Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to all safety and company policies.
· Safety Procedures: Knowledge of and adherence to safe laboratory procedures.
Qualifications:
· Educational Background: BS in Biology or a relevant scientific field.
· Skills and Abilities:
o Ability to multitask and think critically and creatively.
o Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.
o Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently with excellent organizational skills.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Work Schedule: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, Monday to Friday, and some weekends, to meet the demands of the Biology research group.
· Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Preference given to candidates with a demonstrated ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
· 2+ years of academic or industry experience in a laboratory setting.
· Demonstrated proficiency in standard mammalian cell culture procedures and aseptic techniques.
· Practical experience with molecular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, DNA & RNA purification, cloning, gel electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing analysis.
