Research Assistant

Job Summary APRI - African Policy Research Institute is recruiting a Research Assistant to support policy research on climate change, inclusive development, and equitable public policy. The successful candidate will contribute to research examining how climate change and development policies affect vulnerable and historically underserved populations, with particular attention to the social, economic, governance, and public health dimensions of climate impacts. The role will also support research exploring barriers to social inclusion experienced by persons with disabilities, and how evidence-based policy can strengthen equitable access to opportunities, services, and participation in society. Working within APRI's Climate Transition Programme, the Research Assistant will contribute to generating policy-relevant evidence that supports more inclusive, responsive, and data-driven policymaking. Key Responsibilities Support policy research on climate change, inclusive development, and social inclusion. Conduct background research and policy analysis on topics related to climate resilience, equity, and vulnerable populations. Assist in researching the socio-economic, governance, and public policy challenges affecting persons with disabilities, including persons with albinism, and identify opportunities for more inclusive policy responses. Support the collection, organisation, cleaning, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to inform research outputs. Contribute to the compilation and analysis of disaggregated data and evidence to strengthen the representation of marginalized populations in policy research. Assist in drafting policy briefs, research reports, presentations, and other knowledge products. Support stakeholder mapping, interviews, consultations, workshops, and other research engagements. Monitor policy developments and emerging research on climate policy, social inclusion, disability inclusion, and sustainable development. Support project coordination activities, including documentation, meeting notes, and tracking research outputs and deliverables. Perform other research and programme support duties as assigned.
