About the Team:
The team produces Young Post, Young Post Spark and Posties, three weekly publications for Hong Kong students that aim to promote critical thinking, improve English proficiency, and inspire new ideas.
Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to hire a reporter who will actively contribute to the team's efforts in producing news and features for our readers. The reporter will generate story ideas, engage with readers through social media and other Young Post activities, and mentor students interested in journalism. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in current issues and affairs, and be fluent in English.
In this role, you will:
- Be part of a team that produces print and online news and features for teenagers in Hong Kong and the rest of Asia.
- Contribute story ideas of interest to teenage readers
- Mentor teens keen in journalism
- Be responsible for engagement with readers via social media and other Young Post activities
Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
- Bachelors’ degree in any major
- Journalism or teaching experience preferred, but not a must
- Keen interest in current teenage issues
- Keen interest in current affairs, both local and international.
- Fluent in English, able to write good copy in English. Proficiency in Mandarin would be an advantage.
- Ability to produce and edit videos plus
- Be an active and engaged team player. Passionate about Young Post’s mission.
- Willing to travel/work weekends.
- Come up with creative ideas to connect with students.
- A working knowledge of HKDSE and IB issues and challenges.
Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
