On behalf of our client, we are seeking a results-oriented Renewable Energy Project Manager to lead the planning, implementation, and successful delivery of renewable energy projects.
The successful candidate will coordinate technical teams, contractors, suppliers, regulators, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, within budget, on schedule, and according to the required quality standards. The role may involve solar, mini-grid, commercial and industrial, or other clean-energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead renewable energy projects from feasibility assessment and design through implementation, commissioning, and handover.
- Develop detailed project plans covering scope, budget, timelines, resources, quality, and risk.
- Coordinate engineers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal project teams.
- Monitor project milestones and address delays, cost overruns, and implementation challenges.
- Manage procurement schedules and ensure the timely availability of project equipment and materials.
- Review technical designs, work plans, contractor submissions, and project documentation.
- Ensure projects comply with technical specifications, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective relationships with clients, communities, government authorities, utilities, and development partners.
- Manage project budgets, cash-flow requirements, variations, and financial forecasts.
- Conduct site visits and monitor construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality-management standards.
- Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Prepare progress reports, stakeholder updates, and presentations for management.
- Facilitate project completion, client acceptance, handover, and lessons-learned reviews.
- Support the development of proposals and technical inputs for potential projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Registration with a recognised professional engineering body will be an added advantage.
- At least seven years of relevant professional experience, including three years managing energy or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering solar, mini-grid, commercial and industrial, or other renewable energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, budgeting, contract administration, and risk management.
- Familiarity with Ugandan energy-sector regulations and relevant permitting requirements.
