Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced HSE Lead to manage and oversee all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) matters at the Dassiesridge Wind Farm. Reporting to the O&M Manager, you will ensure compliance with all HSE regulations, enforce site safety standards, conduct audits, and provide oversight to contractors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Enforce HSE policies and procedures to maintain a zero-tolerance safety culture.
✔ Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance.
✔ Oversee contractor HSE compliance, including reviewing safety documentation.
✔ Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
✔ Manage HSE reporting and statistics for both internal and external stakeholders.
✔ Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) and Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) systems.
✔ Support emergency response planning and liaise with emergency services.
✔ Implement HSE training programs and ensure personnel competency.
✔ Act as SHE representative and coordinate with asset managers and environmental consultants.
✔ Engage with local communities and landowners on HSE-related matters.
Qualifications & Experience:Required:
✔ Registration with a statutory body (SACPCMP) as an HSE Officer or HSE Manager.
✔ GWO Working at Height certification.
✔ Qualified First Aider (Level 3) and Firefighting certification.
✔ HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment) certification.
✔ Legal Liability qualification.
✔ Minimum 5 years' experience in renewable energy projects as an HSE Officer or Supervisor.
✔ Strong knowledge of the OHS Act, labour laws, and environmental regulations.
✔ Valid driver’s license and willingness to be site-based.
Advantageous:
✔ Snake handling qualification.
✔ Fluency in multiple languages.
✔ Experience in construction permitting and operational HSE management.
