The Investment Specialist will be a key member of the SEI Access Team, focusing on advisor acquisition, satisfaction, allocations and interest in alternative investment products on our Marketplace. The primary purpose of this position is to communicate with SEI Access Marketplace advisor users to generate allocations in alternative investment products. The Investment Specialist will assist the Managing Director and Sales Directors in new advisor acquisitions to the Marketplace and be responsible for the ongoing relationship with those advisors leading to growing total alts allocations across our Marketplace.

This role is directly accountable for sales activities toward positioning alternative investments available into advisor allocations and client portfolios, including through phone calls, emails and campaigns, networking (both internally, and externally including remotely and at industry conferences), prospecting, giving presentations, understanding client needs, demonstrating system functionality, and having advanced knowledge of specific alternative investment funds, fund managers, and asset classes along with the risks and return profiles of each asset class.

The Investment Specialist will proactively work to develop their sales and relationship skills along with their alternative investment market knowledge and take them to the next level by partnering closely with sales, product and strategy leadership.

What you will do:

  • Research alternative investments available and be able to communicate the strategy, risks and benefits to advisors

  • Develop relationships with advisors and fund managers

  • Drive consultative sales of alternative investment allocations

  • Schedule frequent communication and meetings with key advisor users and accounts

  • Explain to advisors the benefits of alternative investments in client portfolios

  • Communicate asset class positioning to achieve financial planning outcomes

  • Follow up on indications of interest and incoming leads or questions

  • Sustain a high level of communication, conduct discovery calls and gain commitments

  • Enter all interactions in SalesForce and document pipeline of allocations

  • Assist leadership with advisor education content and dissemination

  • Collaborate with CIO’s and Due Diligence Professionals about investment fund consideration

  • Foster internal referrals from existing advisor relationship managers

  • Become knowledgeable of SEI’s brand and the Access Platform

  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as directed by the Managing Director and Director

Success Metrics
The Fund Sales Director will know they are successful by measuring:

  • Number of transactions and volume of allocations across their territory via the Marketplace

  • Advisor users on the Marketplace

  • Introductions between advisors and fund managers

  • Advisor satisfaction

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in sales, client success, relationship management or business development

  • 3+ years in financial services, alternative investment sales, or financial analysis

  • Series 7 and 63 licensed or ability to earn licensure quickly

  • Knowledge of alternative investments

  • CAIA, CFA, or CFP designation a plus

  • Experience at a fintech, wealth tech, RIA, Broker-Dealer or banking firm a plus

  • Highly motivated, with a results-driven, growth mindset and strong problem-solving skills

  • Highly personable, with a genuine interest in people and ability to quickly establish rapport with people of diverse backgrounds

  • Excellent probing and listening skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Nimbleness: receptive to feedback and quick to implement

  • Ability to work in a high growth environment where change is the norm

  • Self-starter, able to work independently and collaboratively

  • Experience selling in a remote environment using web conferencing

  • Computer literacy (Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM (ideally salesforce)

  • Ability to embrace and contribute to a diverse and inclusive professional environment

  • Strong desire to be part of something transformative

  • Willingness to travel 20%
