The Regulatory Response Specialist manages the investigation and response process for consumer complaints and inquiries received from state insurance regulatory authorities. This position conducts comprehensive reviews of complaint matters, coordinates with business areas to gather and validate information, and prepares formal company responses in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and established deadlines. This role also analyzes complaint activity and trends to identify recurring issues and recommend opportunities for process improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage regulatory consumer complaints and inquiries, ensuring accurate and timely responses in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations of complaint matters, gathering relevant facts, account history, documentation, and other necessary information.
  • Partner with Claims, Underwriting, Customer Service, Legal, Compliance, and other business areas to validate information, confirm procedures, and establish an accurate chronology of events.
  • Conduct detailed evaluation of file handling to ensure compliance with internal procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate available resolution options in coordination with applicable business areas and escalate compliance or legal concerns as appropriate.
  • Draft and coordinate formal company responses to regulatory complaints and inquiries, ensuring responses are accurate, complete, and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory response requirements and maintain accurate records of complaints, correspondence, supporting documentation, responses, and outcomes.
  • Conduct regular root cause analyses, identify complaint trends, and recommend corrective action plans for process improvement.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field required.

Equivalent experience may substitute for minimum educational requirements. Equivalent experience may include (5) years of relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in property and casualty insurance, regulatory compliance, claims, or underwriting required.

Previous experience investigating and responding to regulatory complaints or inquiries from state Departments of Insurance or other regulatory authorities preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS

Property and casualty insurance industry designations preferred (i.e. Associate in Claims [AIC], Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter [CPCU], etc.)

LICENSES

Florida Agent License (2-20) preferred.

Skills Required
