JOB PURPOSE

 

To support the Bank in maintaining full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, supervisory requirements, and internal policies by implementing and monitoring effective regulatory compliance frameworks, identifying and mitigating compliance risks, and providing timely advisory services to Management and business units to promote a strong culture of compliance and good corporate governance.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·        Provides regulatory compliance advisory support to business units and Management on applicable laws, regulations, supervisory directives, and internal policies.

·        Reviews, interprets, and communicates regulatory requirements to ensure timely implementation across the Bank.

·        Supports the development, review, and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, standards, and governance frameworks.

·        Coordinates regulatory reporting and maintains effective engagement with regulators, auditors, and other relevant stakeholders.

·        Conducts compliance risk assessments, monitoring, testing, and reviews to identify gaps, breaches, and emerging compliance risks.

·        Tracks agreed corrective actions and provides recommendations to strengthen controls and prevent recurrence of compliance breaches.

·        Facilitates compliance training and awareness initiatives to promote a strong compliance culture across the Bank.

·        Strong understanding of banking laws, financial services regulations, supervisory directives, and regulatory

compliance frameworks.

·        Ability to interpret legislation, regulatory guidance, and supervisory communications and translate them into practical business requirements.

·        Competence in compliance risk assessment, including identification, documentation, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring of regulatory risks.

·        Experience in compliance monitoring, testing, reporting, and conducting thematic reviews across business units.

·        Ability to identify regulatory breaches, establish root causes, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation of remediation plans.

·        Good report-writing skills and the ability to prepare clear compliance reports, advisory notes, and regulatory submissions.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

·        Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB).

·        Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in compliance or regulatory roles within a Bank or financial institution.

·        Experience in compliance monitoring, testing, reporting, and conducting thematic reviews across business units.

·        Knowledge of Banking Laws, Supervisory Directives, and Financial Services Regulations.

·        Professional compliance certification will be an added advantage.

·        Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
