We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist who is naturally curious about digital transformation initiatives, innovative ways of working and uses critical thinking to identify opportunities for process optimization, continuous improvement, and increased business value.

Working within our Global Regulatory Affairs team, you will help shape more efficient, data-driven, and scalable regulatory processes while ensuring continued compliance with chemical regulations.

This is a hybrid role based in Europe, with close collaboration across functions and regions.

Key task and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with EU chemical regulations (REACH, CLP, and related legislation) through effective regulatory stewardship, accurate data management, and robust compliance processes.
  • Manage and maintain regulatory data in systems such as Chemmate, IUCLID, and other digital platforms, while developing and enhancing reports, dashboards, and tracking tools using Excel, Power BI, SQL, and internal Regulatory Affairs systems.
  • Apply critical thinking to conduct regulatory assessments and support product development, reformulation, and change management activities, translating regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Evaluate existing Regulatory Affairs processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and user experience through digital tools, automation, and streamlined ways of working.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across regions to harmonize regulatory practices, support the digital transformation of Regulatory Affairs, and represent Hempel in relevant industry associations.

  • A university degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Data-related Scientific Fields, or a similar discipline, combined with experience working with digital regulatory systems, databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
  • Experience in Regulatory Affairs within the chemicals, coatings, or manufacturing industry, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical and effective business processes.
  • Solid knowledge of European chemical legislation, particularly EU REACH, CLP, and product stewardship, coupled with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to regulatory challenges.
  • Advanced skills in Excel (including structured data management, pivot tables, and formulas); experience with Power BI, Chemmate, IUCLID, SQL, or similar digital and reporting tools is a strong advantage.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with a continuous improvement mindset and an interest in leveraging digital solutions to enhance efficiency, data quality, and business value.
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are an advantage

Skills Required
